Since April, with the support of the local office of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater) in Novo Repartimento, in the Tucuruí Lake region, and the City Hall, the couple Paulo Sérgio, better known as César, 51 years old, and Elizabeth Mageski, 46 years old, have been using a newly acquired tractor with rural credit to increase the production and productivity of the 200 hectares of Fazenda Santo Antônio, in the Maracajá District, in the Tuerê settlement, at Km 40 of the BR-230 highway.

“Emater has been very important for us in this process. They provided the guidance, it meant the starting point,” says Elizabeth. And César adds: “thank you to Emater: the first step was them. And also to the City Hall and the Bank of the Amazon,” he said.

Practice

The public financing project through the Mais Alimentos line of the National Program for Family Farming Financing (Pronaf) with the Bank of the Amazon (Basa) is R$ 200,000 and includes a plow and dual tires. The immediate utility is in the renovation of pastures for mixed livestock and preparation of fruit growing areas (such as orange and tangerine orchards).

“I am sure that this machine will be of great value to our rural producer and that is why we are happy and glad to be participating in this delivery,” said the municipal secretary of agriculture, Edelson Storck.

For the head of the local Emater office in Novo Repartimento, agricultural technician Elvis Carvalho, rural credit is a tool that drives sustainable development: “It is an opportunity for small producers to modernize their activities, increasing productivity and improving quality of life. It is worth highlighting the indispensable partnership of Mayor Valdir Lemes and Secretary of Agriculture, Ederson Storck,” he considers.

In the case of the Mageski family, the tractor represents a significant advancement, according to the Manager: “Now the family can carry out activities more quickly and efficiently with less physical effort. With mechanization, it is possible to expand the cultivated area, reduce operational costs, and ensure a more regular and competitive production,” he explains.
