The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), delivered on this Monday (5) units of the "Cisterns" Program in the Marajó Archipelago. A total of 260 structures with cisterns were implemented, which are part of the R$ 7 million investment made by the Federal Government in partnership with the Government of Pará.

The implementation of the Program benefited all 17 municipalities in the Marajó region. The cisterns were installed in schools to benefit the entire school community and surrounding residents.

Minister Wellington Dias was in Marajó delivering units installed in schools

"We implemented the Program here in Marajó, and it is now in the care of the schools and municipalities of Marajó, and we are working tirelessly for a better quality of life, with access to drinking water, for our children, for the staff, and everyone who lives in the region. These are easy-to-maintain systems, and Seaster provided training in all these schools. We thank Minister Wellington Dias (of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger), on behalf of Governor Helder Barbalho, for this partnership and investments for the development of Pará," emphasized Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.

Autonomy - Throughout the execution of the Program, Seaster not only implemented water capture and storage infrastructures but also promoted technical and educational training for school communities, strengthening local autonomy and significantly contributing to the social, economic, and environmental development of the benefited regions. At the event, management certificates for the system were delivered.

"Today, we are inaugurating a system so that families have access to drinking water. And this delivery represents the 260 systems spread across Marajó, to show the continuity of our work for the well-being of our population. Today, with Governor Helder, in Belém, we have already launched the Pará Sem Fome Program, because just as we work with the Popular Pharmacy, the Minha Casa, Minha Vida, together with the young Minister Jader Filho, a program aimed at those who need it most. Today, we say here that this is just the beginning, as President Lula's order is to work with health on the ground, to work for all municipalities here in the Marajó Archipelago and throughout the State of Pará," emphasized Minister Wellington Dias.

More investment - The Service Order for the project to implement 266 units of social technologies and home improvements (ISDs), consisting of a 1,000-liter water tank and a home sanitary installation (ISD) - which contains a stainless steel tank and faucet, and drinking water with a clay filter - was also signed on this Monday (5), benefiting about 3,000 people. The project represents an investment of R$ 8 million.

All 17 municipalities in Marajó received support, with the assistance of the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS).

The mayor of Salvaterra, Valentim Lucas; the head of Sudam (Superintendence for the Development of the Amazon), Paulo Rocha; federal deputy Airton Faleiro; representatives from MDS; and state deputy Elias Santiago also participated in the event.
