Civil Police of Pará arrests faction leaders planning attacks on security agents in Inhangapi
Second phase of Operation 'Archangel' executes warrants in the states of Pará, Maranhão, and Santa Catarina and dismantles a high-risk criminal nucleus

The Civil Police of Pará, through the Police Intelligence Nucleus (NIP), launched on Wednesday (7) the second phase of Operation 'Archangel', which resulted in the arrest of seven individuals identified as leaders of a criminal faction operating in Inhangapi (PA). The suspects are being investigated for planning the execution of a Civil Police investigator and a Military Police sergeant stationed in the municipality.
The judicial warrants were executed simultaneously in the municipalities of Ananindeua, Barcarena, Castanhal, Inhangapi, in Pará, and also in Blumenau (SC), Centro do Guilherme (MA), and São Luís (MA), with the support of the Civil Police from the involved states.

“This operation aims to contain direct threats to the lives of public agents. All those arrested today are identified as leaders of an organized and articulated criminal faction, which targeted security agents operating in Inhangapi,” explained delegate Gabriel Batista, director of the NIP.
Interstate action and qualified arrests
To facilitate the simultaneous arrests, the operation received operational support from the Investigation Support Nuclei (NAI) of Abaetetuba, Castanhal, and Capanema, from the 12th Civil Police Section, in addition to teams from the Civil Police of Maranhão and Santa Catarina.

According to delegate Marcela Brilhante, head of the NAI of Castanhal, the suspects have a long criminal record. “They are individuals of high danger, with backgrounds for drug trafficking, association for trafficking, and direct involvement with criminal organizations. This operation is essential to weaken these local leaders and protect the integrity of our agents and the population,” she emphasized.
Flagrant and drug seizure
In addition to the preventive arrest warrants, a seventh suspect was arrested in the act during the operation, with a significant amount of narcotics and paraphernalia used in drug trafficking, in the municipality of Castanhal. The material was seized and forwarded for legal procedures.
All detained suspects were presented to the respective police units for the necessary procedures and then sent to the penitentiary system, where they will remain at the disposal of Justice.
The first phase of Operation Archangel, carried out in September 2024, had already resulted in the arrest of two suspects, demonstrating the continuity of the Civil Police's strategic actions in combating organized crime in Pará.
