The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense of Pará (Segup), through the Undersecretary of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (Siac), promotes the first Introduction Course in Intelligence Activities for agents of the Municipal Guard of Belém (GMB). The opening ceremony was held on the morning of this Monday (12), presided over by the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense of Pará (Segup), Ualame Machado, in the auditorium of the School of Public Governance of the State of Pará (EGPA), in Belém.

Secretary Ualame Machado congratulated the initiative of the Undersecretary of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (Siac) of Segup for leading the course and making efforts to meet and further qualify state and municipal security agents in the field of Intelligence.

“When we talk today about the three aspects of Public Security in the State, we always mention the three I’s: investment, integration, and intelligence. This involves not only investment in equipment, artificial intelligence, and integration of databases, but also relates to people, the integration of public security system agencies, and the investment in training that we are doing today here in human intelligence, mainly,” said Secretary Ualame Machado.

The head of Segup added: "The machine helps us, but it doesn't work if there isn't someone behind it, not only maneuvering but also taking advantage of what it produces for us. Therefore, intelligence is fundamental for everything, and I am sure that in the area of the Guards it will be essential, as this is applied to actions on the streets, making a significant difference for operations, as you can reduce efforts and increase operational capacity, thus ensuring even better results.”

The qualification brings together 30 agents from the Municipal Guard of Belém (GMB), with the main objective of training them with theoretical and practical knowledge about the main techniques and tools used in public security intelligence, providing skills to identify, collect, analyze, and interpret relevant data, aiming to support the manager in decision-making in various aspects of municipal management and also for integrated actions in Pará.

Inspector of the Municipal Guard of Belém, Elen Sandra Monteiro states that the partnership is strategic for the agents

For the Inspector General of the Municipal Guard of Belém, Elen Sandra Monteiro, the partnership between the State Government and the Municipality has been fundamental to further qualify the guards.

“Our agents will deepen their knowledge and learn to be on the other side because we work much more in visibility and repression, and now we are focused on a new qualification, seeking knowledge to be able to do something new for them, to work internally, in data qualification, and better understand the demands we receive, since sometimes we receive a demand and do not know why it was directed that way. So, for this team that will be trained here now, all the information will be fundamental for the improvement of our work. I thank the State government, the Secretary of Public Security, and our Municipal Secretary of Public Security, so that we can advance and evolve, more and more, in our actions on the streets for the population.”

The qualification that started this Monday (12) will continue until next Friday, the 16th, in the auditorium of the School of Governance of Pará (EGPA) with theoretical classes on methodologies and systems used.

“It is an honor to be participating in this intelligence course in partnership with the State. It is a milestone for us in the Municipal Guard. I know that several other courses have already been taught, where other colleagues have been able to participate, so my expectations are very good because qualification is always welcome, especially in the context now that the Guard is already seen as a police activity, according to the STF. And for us, the more qualified we are, the better for everyone, including the population, since from better collection and analysis of information, we will be able to provide an even better service on the streets and in proximity to the population of Belém,” said Tamara, an agent of the Municipal Guard of Belém and a student of the first class receiving the qualification.
