The State Secretariat of Culture (Secult) began, on the morning of this Monday (12), the 23rd National Museum Week, with a ceremony held at the Eneida de Moraes auditorium, in the Faciola Palace, in Belém. The opening was attended by representatives from various cultural institutions. The program, which has national reach and is coordinated by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), continues in Pará until next Sunday (18), with various activities and free entry to museums.

“During this Museum Week, we emphasize the importance of the implementation of the technical cooperation agreement signed between the Culture Secretariat and Ibram, which establishes a work agenda until 2027, focused on the challenges of the Amazonian and state context. The presence of Ibram is essential for the implementation of public policies, and we already have, this week, a first step: the arrival of professionals for the qualification of museum agents through workshops,” said Armando Sobral, director of the Integrated System of Museums and Memorials of Pará.

Attending the ceremony were the acting Secretary of State for Culture of Pará, Bruno Chagas; the coordinator of the Ministry of Culture (MinC) Office in Pará, Telma Saraiva; the president of Ibram, Fernanda Castro; the councilor of the Memory Point Program Committee and member of the Amazon Museums Forum, Maria das Graças Santana; and researcher Dayseane Ferraz from the Historical and Geographical Institute of Pará.

Also during the morning, Ibram representatives presented the monitoring of the National Sectoral Museum Plan 2025, as well as the Fortaleza Letter, a document prepared at the 8th National Museum Forum, held last year in Fortaleza (CE).

Fernanda Castro highlighted that this is the first edition of 2025 of the Reconexões program, created in 2024 to promote the participatory construction of Ibram's public policies. “The Culture Secretariat of Pará has been committed to this process of rapprochement. Our gratitude goes beyond the event: it is for the consolidated partnership. By 2027, our goal is to establish state museum systems in all units of the Federation. And here in Pará — a strategic territory to mobilize the Amazons and the North region — this partnership is already showing concrete results,” emphasized the president of Ibram.

In the afternoon, the program continued at the State Museum of Pará (MEP), with the formation of Working Groups, debates, and presentation of reports.

Among the highlights of the program throughout the week is the Feira Preta, which will be held at the Cultural Center Palacete Faciola, focusing on the appreciation and visibility of the culture of the quilombola communities of Tomé-Açu. In addition, the agenda includes workshops, launches, round tables, visits, among other activities, check it out here.
