In pursuit of excellence in the work of nursing professionals, Santa Casa held a comprehensive program this Thursday (15), aiming to invest in the ongoing qualification of the team. Composed of around 1,500 professionals, including nurses and nursing technicians, the Nursing Staff of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation (FSCMPA) represents the largest professional category in the hospital.

Benedita Martins

Benedita Martins, general coordinator of Nursing, emphasizes the importance of the category. “We are an institution with hundreds of professionals who have been fighting for several generations, and our main goal, besides providing assistance, is to be a hospital that trains new professionals. Here we have students who also work in internship fields, and the knowledge they receive, I am sure, is knowledge of excellence. It is to ensure that the entire history of building nursing as a science is written at the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation,” she said.

“It is important to thank the management for what we have to deliver to society, because without their support, we really would not have the advancements we have. And this event is a way to thank all the nursing collaborators who make up this institution,” emphasizes Benedita.

For Edilson Calandrine, a nurse and employee of Santa Casa for 18 years, Nursing is a profession that qualifies and modernizes with each century. “In this 21st century, aligned with all technology, nursing reinforces the humanized care that is a fundamental part of assistance to SUS users. And Santa Casa, which is an important institution, has been supporting the training and growth of nursing, along with autonomy, which is a very important factor. And this support we have received from the institution has provided growth for the nursing staff both in the technical professional aspect and in the assistance aspect.”

Antônio Marcos Freire, president of the Regional Nursing Council of Pará, reports that the Nursing Week promoted by Santa Casa is always a grand event, with a lot of participation from professionals, discussing various important aspects of the profession, including those related to ethics and the practice of the profession. “At the opening of the event, we gave a lecture on the issue of nursing and sustainability, and how nursing can fit into this context of COP30, which is approaching, and take advantage of it to improve not only its work but also help increasingly to solve problems in public health.”

“We have to celebrate because the profession has evolved, has grown, the empowerment of nursing with its leaders, through work carried out in institutions, both hospital and public health, has improved the lives of the population, and solutions have been presented through the work of nursing. And this is a reason for great joy for us, nursing is increasingly empowered. We have a national expansion of political representation and here in the state as well,” points out Antônio Freire.

"Our nursing is on the front line for patient improvement at all times, from planning the therapeutic project, executing this project, monitoring, ensuring integrated care. Our nursing team has been evolving exponentially, seeking technical improvement, strengthening over the years, understanding its role, working on interaction with other professional categories and assuming the leading role of its profession in this health scenario," emphasizes Dr. Norma Assunção, assistant director of the Santa Casa Foundation.

“Your role in this care is fundamental. And we see the importance of our nursing team in the assistance area, regarding positioning for your team, for the team to understand that it must be respected and also be respected by the leader. Today I am beginning to see a Nursing empowering itself in its role. And this issue of sustainability, of really seeing ourselves in the global context. How are we going to work on this in our daily lives? I think bringing this moment for us to think about it and redo our practices is something we need to constantly be looking at this future,” highlights the manager.

Award - During the event, which included lectures and realistic simulation rooms, the 'Troféu Valderez Andrade' was awarded, which distinguishes outstanding nursing professionals, publicly recognizing these servers for their relevant nursing services provided to society.

The name of the award is a tribute to nurse Valderez Andrade, who dedicated 26 years to Santa Casa, being considered an example of responsibility, integrity, and competence, having carried out important technical activities and also held management positions throughout her years of work at the institution.

The program continues this afternoon with health and wellness activities, including: acupuncture, massage, and reiki, aimed at the staff and users of Santa Casa.
