With two national holidays and the consequent increase in demand for intermunicipal passenger transport in April, the Regulatory and Control Agency for Public Transport Services of the State of Pará (Artran) reinforced inspection actions throughout the state. Throughout the month, more than 900 approaches were made in different regions, resulting in the issuance of 600 traffic tickets and the removal of 18 vehicles, 15 of which were for clandestine transport.

The operation focused on the main bus terminals in the state, including those in Belém, Ananindeua, Bragança, Castanhal, Marabá, Tucuruí, Parauapebas, Santarém, Itaituba, and Altamira. The inspection teams were also active at strategic points on state and federal highways, with the support of various partner agencies, such as the Detran, Federal Highway Police (PRF), State Highway Police (PRE), Scientific Police, and Military Police.

Intensified inspection and more safety for users

According to Artran's inspection director, Gilberto Barbosa, the intensified presence of teams on the roads and at terminals brought significant advances in combating irregularities and promoting a safer service for passengers.

“Being actively present at terminals and on the roads helped reduce clandestine operations and provide more safety for those who depend on intermunicipal transport. We also managed to ensure that companies adhered to schedules and respected free rides and half-fares,” Barbosa stated.

In addition to checking the documentation and regularity of companies, inspectors also inspected basic safety and comfort conditions of vehicles, such as the state of tires, seat belts, windshields, and the internal cleanliness of buses.

“These are details that make a difference in passenger safety and the quality of the service provided,” the director emphasized.

Special operation during holidays

Between April 16 and 21, during the Easter and Tiradentes holidays, Artran conducted a special operation in 18 municipalities, with heightened attention to the increased road traffic. During this period, 1,325 approaches were made, resulting in 180 traffic tickets and the seizure of seven vehicles — six of which were clandestine and one regular, the latter for non-compliance with regulations established by the Agency.

The inspections took place in cities such as Belém, Bragança, Capanema, Castanhal, Barcarena, Tailândia, Vigia, Santa Maria do Pará, Moju, and São Francisco do Pará, to curb irregularities and ensure more safety for users during the extended holiday.

The actions reflect Artran's commitment to quality, safety, and regularity in intermunicipal passenger transport, especially during periods of higher circulation. The Agency emphasizes that inspection work will continue throughout the year, focusing on protecting passenger rights and combating irregular transport.
