Candiru River Base seizes about 130 kilograms of drugs during inspection in Lower Amazon
Integrated action identified skank bricks hidden in a moving truck heading from Manaus to Belém

The continuous operation of the Candiru River Base, linked to the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), resulted, this Saturday (17), in another important seizure of narcotics on the Amazon River. The inspection intercepted about 130 kilograms of skank marijuana, which were hidden in a moving truck transported on a vessel originating from Manaus and destined for Belém.

The drug was located during thorough inspections carried out at the Jeretepaua Port, in the municipality of Óbidos, where the vessel has been held since last Friday (16), following suspicions of illegal cargo transport.
Seizure was the result of detailed inspection
The flagrant occurred during the continuation of searches on the vehicles loaded onto the pushboat "Rei Davi", which was transporting two barges: "Luana I" and "Lady Linda". The vessel had been approached by security agents on Friday (16), when a first quantity of drugs had already been seized.

This Saturday, during new searches, the Military Police's sniffer dog, Izú, indicated the presence of narcotics in a moving truck that was supposedly heading to the state of Ceará. Upon further inspection, agents found sealed metal boxes with rivets filled with expanding foam, camouflaged among furniture and personal items. Inside them were 119 skank bricks, totaling approximately 130 kg of the substance.
State present on strategic routes to combat trafficking
According to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, the actions of the Candiru Base have been fundamental in combating drug trafficking in the region.
“In two days, the inspections by the Candiru Base have already resulted in the seizure of over 140 kg of drugs, with 10.760 kg yesterday and another 130 kg today. This demonstrates that the State is present with police forces and reinforcing actions on strategic routes. It is important to emphasize that, in light of this reinforcement, criminal groups are seeking new ways to disguise narcotics — as in the case of this truck, which indeed carried moving items. We will continue with firm actions to keep dismantling trafficking and other crimes in Pará,” he stated.
Investigation continues to identify those responsible
All seized material was forwarded to the Civil Police team at the Candiru Base and will be submitted to forensic examination. The truck driver was heard and stated that he was hired to transport a move to the state of Ceará, claiming to be unaware of the contents of the metal boxes.
Investigations continue with the aim of identifying those responsible for the drug shipment and the possible individuals involved in the transport scheme. Meanwhile, the vessel remains detained at the port of Óbidos to ensure that all inspections on the other transported vehicles are carried out safely.
