Candiru Base Action Seizes Nearly 4 kg of Drugs and Arrests Homicide Suspect
Agents are monitoring vessels in the river network of the Óbidos region

Another integrated action carried out by the agents of the Candiru Base, who operate in the river network of Óbidos, resulted in the seizure of 3.8 kg of narcotics, and also in the arrest of a man accused of homicide. The inspections were conducted on the afternoon of Sunday (18), on two vessels traveling along the Amazon River, coming from Manaus heading to the city of Santarém, in Pará.
The inspection actions coordinated by the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the Public Security River Group (Gflu), have been ensuring river safety in the Lower Amazon region with good productivity, points out the head of Segup, Secretary Ualame Machado.
“We are managing to carry out inspections periodically, which has resulted in very positive productivity in the Lower Amazon region, where the integrated security teams have been able to intercept drug trafficking actions, as well as conducting inspections and patrols, where we can identify fugitives from Justice. In one of the vessels, for example, the agents identified a fugitive with an open arrest warrant for a homicide crime. This shows us that the strategy adopted for our river network is effective in combating crime in our waterways,” said the secretary.

Inspection
During an inspection on the vessel “Ocean Prince” originating from Manaus heading to Santarém, agents from the Military and Civil Police, Fire Department, Federal Revenue, and Gflu identified in the cargo area of the ship a box containing 5 packages with 3 bricks of the narcotic type Oxi, weighing approximately 3.290 kg, as well as 500g of marijuana and 100 kg of cocaine, totaling 3.890 kg of drugs. The person responsible for the vessel was taken to the Civil Police Unit of the Candiru Base for clarification. The drugs were seized and taken for the appropriate procedures.
Also, during Sunday, the agents inspected another vessel named Ana Karoline VII, which originated from the city of Manaus heading to Belém. During the verification of the passengers' documents, the teams identified a man who presented a false identity. A search was conducted in the fugitive database where an open arrest warrant was located, issued by the 2nd Court of the Jury of Belém for the crime of homicide. The man was presented to the police unit for the appropriate procedures and is at the disposal of Justice.
