Forensic Police participates in national operation against cyber crimes
The national action takes place in 12 states and combats networks that encouraged self-harm, shared child pornography, made threats, and promoted Nazism

On the morning of this Tuesday (27), forensic experts and technical assistants from the Computer Forensics Management (GPI) of the Forensic Police of Pará (PCEPA) participated in Operation "Iron Hand II". The action, which has national scope, was launched by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and coordinated by the Civil Police in 12 states. In Pará, the operation took place in the municipalities of Barcarena, Marabá, and Canaã dos Carajás.
The objective of the operation is to combat criminal networks that operated on social media - such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Discord - promoting and encouraging practices such as self-harm, threats, promotion of Nazism, and the sharing of child pornography. Investigations indicate that the criminal groups primarily targeted children and adolescents.
In Pará, the Forensic Police provided technical support in the investigations with the examination of electronic devices seized from adolescents. In Barcarena, in Vila dos Cabanos, and in Marabá, one cell phone was seized in each location. In Canaã dos Carajás, three devices were collected: a laptop, a pen drive, and a cell phone. All equipment will undergo specialized forensic examination.

According to forensic expert Marcelo Maués, the devices underwent preliminary inspections at the seizure locations, but a thorough analysis will be conducted in the laboratory. “With the use of forensic tools, we will be able to extract and analyze the data in detail. This process is essential for the production of forensic evidence,” he explained.
The cell phone seized in Barcarena was sent to the forensic laboratory at the headquarters of PCEPA in Belém. The materials collected in Canaã dos Carajás and Marabá were sent for analysis at the Regional Coordination of Marabá.

Delegate Thaís Albuquerque, from the Vila dos Cabanos Police Station, emphasized the importance of the Forensic Police's role in the investigative process. “The role of forensics is fundamental, as it is necessary to ensure the chain of custody. The seized devices need to be forwarded to the Judiciary with proof that all procedures were carried out legally, without any manipulation,” she stated.
The adolescents involved were taken to provide testimony and remain at the disposal of the Justice.
