For the 5th consecutive year, Hospital Galileu achieves Excellence in Management Level
A reference in orthopedic trauma, the unit reaffirms its commitment to public health, patient safety, and excellence in hospital management
The Galileu State Public Hospital, a unit of the Government of Pará managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), celebrates, for the fifth consecutive year, a significant achievement: the Level III Recertification – Accredited with Excellence, granted by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA). The certification was completed this week and recognizes the institutional maturity of the hospital, its integrated management, commitment to continuous improvement, and unwavering focus on patient safety.
The certification is the result of a rigorous evaluation process conducted by the Vanzolini Foundation, one of the accrediting institutions accredited by ONA. Hospital Galileu met all audited requirements, with several items classified as “exceeds” — that is, exceeding the required standards.
“This achievement reflects the serious, technical, and committed work of our entire team. The excellence certification is not just a recognition, but also a confirmation that we are on the right path, prioritizing quality and patient safety. This demonstrates that the population has been receiving highly reliable assistance for at least five years,” says Paula Narjara Azevedo, Quality Manager at ISSAA.
In addition to the certification, the final report of the external audit was made available, which corroborated the data previously pointed out in the internal report prepared by the Quality, Patient Safety, and Processes Center (NQSP). The corrective actions regarding the partially compliant items (PC) are already being implemented and will be recorded in the SAS-Interact management system, within the deadlines established in the Corrective Action Plan (PAC), both internal and external.
Continuous commitment - For Cledes Silva, executive director of Hospital Galileu, the result is the fruit of collective dedication. “We are proud of this recognition, which is the result of the tireless work of each collaborator, manager, and partner. Our commitment is to quality public health, and this certification reinforces that we are providing a safe, humanized, and efficient service to our patients.”
Recognized strengths - The audit highlighted as strengths the active involvement of collaborators and senior leadership in quality processes. The humanization actions aimed at patients and professionals were also highlighted, with initiatives such as the ‘Riso Galileu’, ‘Sorriso Saudável’, ‘What Matters to You’, ‘Caring for Those Who Care’, ‘Clowning’, and ‘Cine Galileu’ projects.
Excellence in assistance - In the care aspect, the audit emphasized initiatives such as the ‘My Ideal Venous Access’ project, ‘Reconstructing Steps’, ‘Assisted Technology Laboratory’, in addition to the creation of the Therapeutic Plan Manual.
The initiative ‘Conversation Circle with Users at the Bedside’, conducted by the User Service (SAU), was also praised. Another important milestone was the II Quality Symposium: Justice and Patient Safety Hand in Hand in High-Reliability Institutions, held in September 2024.
About ONA - The National Accreditation Organization (ONA) is the main national reference for quality certification in health services. The Level III certification – Accredited with Excellence – is the highest degree of recognition granted by the entity, certifying that the institution is aligned with the best management, safety, and health assistance standards.
Institutional profile - The Galileu State Public Hospital is a unit of the Government of Pará, managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). It is a reference in the state network for the treatment of tracheal injuries and trauma, with services provided exclusively through referrals from the State Regulation Center.
