The Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room (PSRM) received the quality certification granted by the Brazilian Association of Intensive Medicine (AMIB) for its Adult Intensive Care Unit on Wednesday (28). The certification ensures that the management of quality and performance indicators in the sector, which has 10 beds, is conducted according to criteria established in accordance with Resolution No. 7 of the Collegiate Board of Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency), dated February 24, 2010, which sets forth quality requirements for the operation of Intensive Care Units.

The Quality and Performance Indicators Management seal is awarded to adult and pediatric ICUs that manage their quality indicators, contributing to the improvement of intensive medicine quality and patient safety in Brazil. Through the computerized system, real-time analysis, benchmarking, and predictive analyses are allowed by timely data input into the system, which depends on the engagement of the entire multiprofessional team in following the flows and processes, always aiming for improvement plans for the processes involving intensive care assistance.

Assistance director, Aristônico Rodrigues, notes that the recognition achieved by the intensive unit of PSRM demonstrates the commitment to good management and assistance practices that prioritize patient safety and continuous improvement of clinical and operational processes.

"This certification highlights our management of quality and performance indicators, which was achieved through the effort and dedication of the entire multiprofessional team, who started the race for this achievement with the opening of the Adult ICU in the first half of 2024. This recognition places us in the race for another very important certification that we are aiming for, which is the Efficient ICU seal, and this first certification shows us that we are on the right path to elevate our Adult ICU to an even higher level, always aiming for the quality and safety of the services offered to our patients," emphasizes the assistance manager.

The Adult ICU at Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room is a reference for Belém and the metropolitan region, serving residents from the 144 municipalities of Pará referred to the services available at the hospital, managed by Instituto Acqua, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health of Pará (Sespa).

For the general director, Carlos Vinícius Ribeiro, the quality certificate of the Epimed data is very important to endorse a work that has been done for the population, confirmed by quality data and assistance indicators carried out within the Adult ICU. "The certification is a way to improve the quality of care, the quality of assistance to patients who need adult ICU services, so that they have the shortest hospitalization time, with higher rates of accuracy related to their therapeutic plan, and, above all, so that their problem is resolved and they return to society better than when they arrived at us," emphasizes the manager.
