Semas analyzes climatic conditions and forecasts rainfall until August
The Hydrometeorological Monitoring Center (NMH) of the department discusses and presents monitoring data to state public institutions

The Secretary of Environment and Sustainability of Pará (Semas) held a meeting in Belém on Thursday (29) to analyze and present climatic conditions focusing on the rainfall forecast for the next quarter (June, July, and August). The event aimed to discuss the behavior of atmospheric conditions, seasonal characteristics, and present what occurred in previous periods to improve the preparation and planning of various sectors of state secretariats and public agencies.
“We talked about the information focusing on the operation of the present agencies that act, many in the field, whether in combating fires or in supporting the floods that may occur during this period. Air quality is something to be constantly monitored, and concluding with the presentation of the bulletin, which is the final product, the synthesis of the meeting,” explains Antonio Sousa, coordinator of the NMH.

Semas also offers this data to the public through the Climatological Yearbook of the State of Pará, which presents the main information related to meteorological, hydrometeorological, and climatological events that occurred in Pará. The document contains tables and graphs of temperatures, precipitation, levels of the main rivers in Pará, data collected from meteorological and/or hydrometeorological stations distributed throughout the Pará territory.
The event on Thursday included the participation of the Military Fire Brigade of Pará, Civil Defense, State Secretariat for Family Agriculture (Seaf), State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment, and Income of Pará (Seaster), State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), Military Police of the State of Pará (PMPA), Municipal Secretary of Environment, and Public Health (Sespa).

The Hydrometeorological Monitoring Center (NMH) of Semas is the sector responsible for analyses, studies, and operational routines related to weather, climate, and adverse hydrometeorological events (floods and droughts) and has as one of its purposes the dissemination of information and raising awareness of the Pará population regarding meteorology-related issues.
