Advancement of the PA-253 works boosts regional development and generates expectations in the served municipalities
The paving works of the PA-253 are progressing rapidly and have already reached 85.67% completion
The paving works of the PA-253 are progressing rapidly with 85.67% completion. With over 62 km of new asphalt, the highway is about to transform the mobility and economy of the municipalities of São Domingos do Capim, Capitão Poço, and Santa Luzia do Pará, located in the integration regions of Rio Capim and Guamá.
The first section of the work, which goes from Vila Perseverança in São Domingos do Capim to BR-010, is in the final phase, with the last adjustments being made. The second section, which connects the headquarters of the municipality of Capitão Poço to BR-316 in Santa Luzia do Pará, is also advancing significantly. In addition to the paving, eight bridges are being built along the highway, ensuring safety and fluidity in traffic.
More than just a road intervention, the PA-253 work is considered strategic for regional integration and strengthening rural production, as highlighted by the State Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Adler Silveira. “The PA-253 plays a fundamental role in the logistics of the region,” he emphasizes.
“This work will ensure more efficient transportation of agricultural production, especially from family farming, which is the economic base of many communities in these municipalities. Besides boosting economic development, it represents dignity, quality of life, and new opportunities for the population of the interior of Pará,” explained the secretary.
For those living along the highway, the transformation is already a reason for hope. Housewife Raimunda Ferreira, 58, a resident of Capitão Poço, says that the arrival of asphalt represents a new era. “We always suffered with mud in the winter and dust in the summer. It was difficult to move around, even to take a child to the doctor, for example. Now, with this asphalt coming, it feels like we are coming out of isolation,” she said.
For young student Lucas Andrade, 17, a resident of Santa Luzia do Pará, the new road will have a direct impact on access to education. “I study in the city center, and there are days when the school bus can't even pass. With the paved road, everything will improve: transportation, safety, travel time. We feel more valued,” pointed out the student.
With delivery expected in the coming months, the PA-253 will be a new strategic corridor for regional development, integrating communities, strengthening the regional agribusiness, and improving the quality of life for thousands of people in Pará.
