Master's in Indigenous School Education is open for applications
The aim of the program is to qualify Indigenous individuals working in the field of education. Classes will be offered in Belém, Santarém, and Marabá
Applications are now open until June 25 for the selection process of the Graduate Program in Indigenous School Education (PPGEEI), which offers places in the Professional Master's course in Indigenous School Education for the 2025 class, aimed at qualifying licensed Indigenous individuals working in Indigenous school education.
The program is offered by the State University of Pará (Uepa), in association with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the Federal University of South and Southeast Pará (Unifesspa), and the Federal University of West Pará (Ufopa). All information about the selection process is available in the announcement 56-2025, published at www.uepa.br.
Indigenous individuals with ethnic belonging to the people, who can prove endorsement from their Indigenous community of origin and hold a Full Licentiate diploma recognized by a Brazilian official body, may apply. The selection process occurs in three phases, all of which are eliminatory and classificatory: evaluation of the Dissertation Project; questioning of the dissertation project, and a written exam, conducted in person in Belém, Santarém, and Marabá.
The course has two lines of research: Curriculum, Ways of Doing, and evaluation in Indigenous School Education, which investigates the differentiated nature of Indigenous school education, the implementation of curricular proposals aligned with specific societal projects of Indigenous peoples, proposals for pedagogical intervention with Indigenous protagonism, and specific and appropriate evaluation and management methods for the reality of each Indigenous people; and Planning and Production of Didactic Materials in Indigenous Schools, focused on studies about planning and the production of material culture in Indigenous school education, considering the relationship between traditional Indigenous technologies and teaching technologies.
A total of 20 places will be offered, equally distributed between the two lines of research, with 10 places for each line. The places are offered in Santarém, with 4 places per line of research, Marabá, with 3 places per line of research, and Belém, with 3 places per line of research. The redistribution of places may occur if the coordination of PPGEEI needs to adjust the formation of the student group by location, subject to approval by the PPGEEI Collegiate. The final result is expected to be published in September, the same month when the start of classes for the new class is scheduled.
