The State Government launched, this Thursday (12), the Pavilion Pará at COP30 to encourage the participation of municipalities in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, in November, in the capital of Pará. The space will be managed by the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur) and set up at the Centenary Convention Center of the Assembly of God, on Avenida Augusto Montenegro. The launch took place at the City Park, with the presence of mayors, who also had the opportunity to plant a tree.

The idea is to make the Pavilion Pará a strategic environment for municipalities to present their potential, sustainable initiatives, and development opportunities during COP30. The pavilion will have 144 booths (one for each city), a food court, a stage, and an area for discussions and podcasts. The space will operate from November 17 to 21.

According to the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, this will be the first time that municipalities can participate in a COP. "All 144 municipalities will have a space to showcase their sustainability projects, they will have the opportunity to seek partnerships that can be built within the sustainability agenda, as well as, of course, to showcase their cultures, their gastronomy, their skills, and their riches," he emphasized.

The vice-governor Hana Ghassan presented the structure to the mayors. "This is a historic moment for the State of Pará and all the cities. More than 150 countries are expected to participate in COP30. We will have a unique opportunity to showcase our State, promote local production," she said.

The booths will have standardized sizes of 16 square meters, with a large screen, furniture, lighting, and the assembly of the structure is also included.

The vice-president of the Federation of Municipal Associations of the State of Pará (Famep), Xarão Leão, who is also the mayor of Breves, pointed out the visibility that Pavilion Pará will bring to all regions of the State. "This is a unique opportunity for us to showcase everything we have good in the municipalities and in the State of Pará," he reinforced.

Municipalities' Grove - During the launch of Pavilion Pará at COP30, mayors had the opportunity to plant a sapling in the City Park. This action allowed for the creation of the Municipalities' Grove, which features species from the Brazilian flora.

The president of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Pará (Alepa), deputy Chicão, highlighted the importance of the City Park as one of the main legacies of COP30. "It is a public facility that will remain for future generations. In 100 years, it will still exist," he praised.
