On the eve of the 30th International Climate Conference - COP30, Pará expands its international air network and strengthens its connection with North America. Starting this Sunday (15), the capital of Pará, Belém, will have a direct flight to Miami (USA), operated by Gol Linhas Aéreas. The new route is part of a package of actions coordinated by the State Government to boost tourism and international business in the region. The exclusive operations will feature two direct flights per week, on Thursdays and Sundays, increasing to three flights per week during COP30.

And to celebrate this new reality, GOL Linhas Aéreas, in partnership with Visit Pará, will hold a commemorative dinner, organized for 90 people, including representatives of the state government, at the Casa do Saulo restaurant, located in the Cultural Space Casa das Onze Janelas, housed in an 18th-century building in the Cidade Velha neighborhood of Belém.

How will it work?

Initially, there will be two direct flights per week, on Thursdays and Sundays. During the climate conference, the frequency will be increased to three flights per week, taking advantage of the increased demand from visitors and the international visibility provided by the event.

According to the National Tourism Observatory, Pará ranks 10th among Brazilian states that receive the most American tourists. In 2024, the state welcomed 4,052 visitors from the USA — an 18.7% increase compared to the previous year.

"We have a very close tourism and commercial relationship with the United States. We already had a direct flight to Fort Lauderdale, also in Florida, and now this new connection with Miami opens even more business opportunities and strengthens the tourism sector in Pará," highlighted the Deputy Secretary of Tourism, Lucas Vieira.

For the airline, the Belém-Miami route boosts its internationalization strategy, promoting greater connectivity between Pará and the Americas in the year of COP30, which will be held in November 2025.

Recall the meeting that defined the new routes

The announcement of the new route was made in February of this year, following a meeting between Governor Helder Barbalho and representatives of Gol Linhas Aéreas, which also marked the start of ticket sales.

At the time, the head of the Pará Executive met with representatives of GOL Linhas Aéreas and Northern Amazon Airports (NOA), which manages Belém International Airport, where he emphasized the importance of such an achievement for the capital and the state.

"I celebrate the announcement made with the State Government, where we now have a new destination, through GOL, to the United States, making Belém-Miami twice a week. And with this, we have the strategy, first, to connect Miami with Brazil, Miami with Belém. But the important thing is that we are not just talking about the city of Miami in the United States. We are talking about the fact that from Miami, 65 other American cities can connect, from Miami, with Belém and, consequently, with the Amazon. Therefore, this opens a range of flights, opens a range of demands for new visitors, so that we can make tourism a strong vocation for job generation, income, economic strengthening, and consolidation of Belém's position as the capital of the Amazon," stated Helder Barbalho.

In addition to the new route to Miami, Pará already has regular international flights to Paramaribo (Suriname), Cayenne (French Guiana), Fort Lauderdale (USA), and Lisbon (Portugal), consolidating Belém as a strategic gateway between Brazil and the world.

About the aircraft that will make the trips

The flights between Belém (BEL) and Miami (MIA) are operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, the most sustainable model in GOL's fleet, with a capacity for 176 passengers in the international configuration.
