June quadrilhas begin the competition for the state title
The state competition of June quadrilhas started this Friday, 13, and will continue until the next June 27 with daily performances at the headquarters of FCP
The XXI edition of the State Competition of June Quadrilhas began this Friday (13). The competition for the champion title will continue until the next June 27. The performances are daily and take place at the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) in Belém, starting at 7 PM.
The night began with the performance of the children’s quadrilhas “Sapequinhas da Radional” from Belém, and “Flor de Junho Mirim” from Abaetetuba. Following that, eight adult groups took to the arena representing the cities of Cametá, Concórdia do Pará, Breu Branco, Bragança, and Belém.
Yuri Eduardo, choreographer of the children’s quadrilha "Os Sapequinhas da Radional", highlights the weight and responsibility of being the first quadrilha.
"We rehearsed a lot, worked hard, and did an amazing research to make the show that is happening today," he states.
The presentation included a moment for the beauty queens, and Yasmin Fagundes, Miss Simpatia, shares her joy after the quadrilha's performance.
"I’m very happy, I’m very joyful, I managed to dance! I hope to bring this title to my family, to my quadrilha, to my parents," says Miss Simpatia.
Until the end of the performances on June 27, 132 quadrilhas will perform in the people's square at the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation of Pará. The festival ends on June 29 with the awarding of the champions.
Each group impacts and attracts a large audience to watch the June quadrilhas; for Amanda Reis, her annual presence at the event is guaranteed.
"I have been coming here for a long time to see the quadrilhas' show and to learn a little about each of them. I think it’s very beautiful. We come because the children really enjoy it. In fact, it’s my daughter’s first time here," says Amanda Reis.
Folguedos - In addition to the performance of June quadrilhas, the program at the FCP headquarters includes bird shows and June folguedos, as well as the sale of handicrafts and typical foods of the season. Admission is free.
