The Orchestra of Theatro da Paz honors Coro Carlos Gomes in 'Noite da Ópera Paraense'

Next Wednesday, the 18th, the Symphony Orchestra of Theatro da Paz will pay tribute to the 30th anniversary of Coro Carlos Gomes with the Lyric Gala "Ópera da Amazônia", conducted by maestro Miguel Campos Neto, starting at 8 PM.
The show will feature the participation of Coro Carlos Gomes under the direction of conductor Maria Antonia Jiménez, who is responsible for the choir's formation. The choir promotes Brazilian, regional, and popular choral music. In the performance, soprano Thaina Souza, mezzo-soprano Liliana Virgínia, tenor Antônio Wilson, and baritone Idaías Souto will be present.
The repertoire will present Brazilian operas, such as "Iara, Opera Ballo in un Prologo e due Atti - Preludio", composed by Gama Malcher, and Idalia - Act I, Scene 4: Cavatina for Soprano and Idalia - Act I, Scene 8: Recitative and Romance for Tenor, from the opera Idalia by Henrique Gurjão. In addition to Mass in C Major, Op. 86, and the sacred work by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1807.

Admission is free and tickets can be picked up starting at 9 AM on the 18th through the Ticket Fácil website (ticketfacil.com.br) and from 6 PM at the box office of Theatro da Paz, limited to two tickets per person.
This initiative is from the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult), Theatro da Paz, and the Paraense Academy of Music (APM) and is part of the XXIV Opera Festival of Theatro da Paz.
Opera Festival of Theatro da Paz
The XXIV Opera Festival of Theatro da Paz is organized by the Government of Pará, through Secult, in partnership with Theatro da Paz and the Paraense Academy of Music.

Since 2002, the festival has presented works such as Salomé, La Bohème, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, The Magic Flute, and The Pearl Fishers, gathering more than 144,000 spectators and establishing itself as one of the main lyrical events in the country.
The central stage of the festival, Theatro da Paz, inaugurated in 1878 during the Rubber Cycle, is considered the first opera theater in the Amazon and one of the oldest still in operation in Brazil. Together with Teatro Amazonas, it forms part of the group of Amazon Theaters, which is competing for the title of UNESCO World Heritage.
