The State Secretariat for Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) participated last week in the action "Women’s Voices in the Territory," aimed at women in the Rio Caeté region. The event aimed to highlight the importance of women's participation in environmental public policies and sustainable development, as well as to promote the environmental regularization of rural properties through the analysis and validation of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR).

During the event, there were guidelines on registering for the CAR, a fundamental instrument for the environmental regularization of rural properties. The implementation of the CAR can facilitate women's access to environmental programs and policies, as well as enable benefits related to rural credit and technical support for sustainable production. The activity also clarified doubts about the legalization of land intended for agricultural use.

"The specific service for environmental regularization for women values the feminine work that sustains family farming and goes beyond production. Women have a direct role in caring for the land, managing natural resources, and ensuring food on the table. When environmental regularization reaches them, with specialized service, it generates autonomy, legal security, and recognition of territorial rights and their essential role in the rural economy, expanding access to markets, rural credit, and opportunities for sustainable production," said the Deputy Secretary of Management and Environmental Regularity of Semas, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos.

The Director of Economic Autonomy and Cross-Cutting Policies of Semu, Marisa Lima, highlighted the importance of the action in the Caeté region. "We started a productive week in the Caeté region. We met with entrepreneurs and rural producers from the municipalities with the aim of bringing them closer to the services of the State government. We had the presence of Semas and other institutions that joined forces in this action, aiming to strengthen women entrepreneurs, guarantee their rights, and ensure that public policies reach those who do not have access or are unaware of these rights. This is an important action to contribute to strengthening the local economy and valuing the women of the region," she said.

The meeting was also a space to value the representation of women in environmental discussions, encouraging female participation in promoting sustainable development and environmental planning stages in the communities of the Rio Caeté territory.

"We, as residents and small producers, were able to clarify doubts with the Secretary of the Environment, with Emater, and we also had the support of the Secretary of Women, who raised this important banner of valuing women producers in our state. This support was very interesting; we finished with many doubts clarified and, mainly, with guidance on what we need to do to continue moving forward, evolving, and seeking improvements for ourselves and for our entire population," highlighted Jaqueline Costa, a participant in Women’s Voices in the Territory in Peixe-Boi.

The rural producer from the municipality of Primavera, Dilma Pereira, reported that her rural area has already benefited from the CAR and mentioned the importance of the women's movement strengthening in Pará.

"I am very happy and grateful for this movement that took place in our city. I have already benefited from the CAR for the small area I own, and it is very important to see this movement of women strengthening in our state. Those who need it are managing to clarify their doubts, and even those who do not yet have the CAR are participating in this moment. This is very important for us, who are part of family farming. It is very interesting to realize that we, women, are also a force in our municipality and in the state," said the producer.

The meeting was promoted by the State Secretariat for Women (Semu), with the support of Semas, and served the municipalities of Santarém, Nova Timboteua, Salinópolis, Primavera, and Peixe-Boi, belonging to the Caeté integration region.
