More than 300 inspection and education agents will be at strategic points to ensure safety, guidance, and traffic flow during the month of July

The State Traffic Department (Detran) begins, this Friday (28), the Summer Operation 2025, with increased inspection on the main state highways. The action, which extends until August 4, will have more than 300 agents distributed at strategic points of access to beaches, streams, and resorts. The goal is to ensure road safety, promote traffic flow, and reduce accidents.

In total, 300 inspection agents and 78 traffic education agents will operate in 50 municipalities through educational, preventive, and repressive actions aimed at combating traffic violations and crimes. The operation will focus on reducing accidents with victims, controlling vehicle flow, inspecting alcohol consumption by drivers, speeding, and the use of mobile phones while driving.

The teams will be positioned on state highways and at strategic entry and exit points of the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB), with emphasis on monitoring and inspection along BR-316, between kilometers 1 and 18.

In addition to operations in the RMB, the operation will have agents positioned in areas of high tourist movement, such as the district of Mosqueiro, Salinópolis, Bragança, Marabá, Conceição do Araguaia, Santarém, Mocajuba, Abaetetuba, among others. The municipalities were selected based on the increase in vehicle flow recorded during the vacation month, a period when there is greater movement to tourist destinations in the state.

Guidance and attention to traffic flow

Detran also advises drivers to double their attention while driving, perform preventive maintenance on vehicles before traveling, and keep all vehicle and driver documentation up to date. In case of emergencies, the use of a warning triangle is essential to alert other drivers and avoid accidents, especially when the vehicle needs to be stopped on the road.

The coordinator of operations and inspection at Detran, Ivan Feitosa, indicates that agents will be attentive to the points of greatest congestion on BR-316 and advises on the best times to leave and return to Belém. “Based on our survey, we recommend that drivers leave the capital in the early hours of the day, preferably before 7 a.m., when traffic is still lighter and the trip is smoother. The return is also usually more fluid in the early hours of the morning, especially on Sundays.”

Traffic on BR-316, one of the main access routes during the vacation period, will be monitored in real-time by the Traffic Operations Center, the “Sentinela,” which works in conjunction with the inspection agents positioned along the highway. “Both on the way out and on the return to the Metropolitan Region, our teams will be positioned to guide drivers, adjust traffic light timings, and, if necessary, perform flow reversals to ensure the best possible traffic flow,” informs Feitosa.

As part of the actions to prevent accidents, Detran will intensify the enforcement of the Dry Law in municipalities with higher vehicle flow. In Salinópolis, inspections will be concentrated on highways PA-124 and PA-444, and on the beaches of Atalaia and Farol Velho, especially during peak hours, during low tide. On the sandy beaches, in partnership with other state security forces, operations will also be carried out to curb the use of glass bottles, lines with cerol, and the practice of noise pollution by motor vehicles.
