On Wednesday (25), the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) and the Institute of Lands of Pará (Iterpa) began the process of environmental and land regularization for 150 rural producers in the municipality of Portel, in Marajó.

The action is the result of the work initiated by the Integrated Action Program for
Sustainable Territories (PTS), which has the partnership of the Institute of Lands of Pará (Iterpa) and the Eastern Amazon Fund, coordinated by Funbio (Brazilian Biodiversity Fund).

Promoting environmental and land regularization is part of the objectives of the PTS, corroborating with the goals proposed in the State Plan Amazon Now (PEAA) for the State of Pará. The PTS, through Semas, will regularize 150 properties with environmental liabilities, assisting the process from registration, validation of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), preparation of Projects for the Recovery of Degraded and Altered Areas (Prada) and projects for access to rural credit. Iterpa will carry out the georeferencing and topographic survey of 150 rural properties, enabling them for individual titling.

Cinthia Coelho, manager of CAR Analysis at the Directorate of Climate Change and Environmental Services (Dimuc) of Semas, emphasizes that "this is a stage of extreme importance for the beneficiaries of the program in the municipality of Portel. It is the State making its presence felt through the execution of fundamental public policies of great relevance for the rural population, providing free services such as preparation and validation of CAR, Prada, and issuance of land titles. A true advance in socio-economic and environmental development in the Marajó region."

"The joint action strengthens the Sustainable Territories Program by integrating efforts in favor of land and environmental regularization. The activities developed not only boost titling but also facilitate forest recovery, access to public policies, promote social justice, reduce land conflicts, and enable sustainable land use, strengthening the bond between the countryside, the forest, and citizenship," says Marco Antônio, manager of Articulation and Mobilization at Iterpa.

All efforts made are part of the State Government's commitment to ensure access to public policies for rural communities, strengthening efforts to reduce the impacts of climate change.
