The governor of the State, Helder Barbalho, accompanied by the vice-governor Hana Ghassan, was present on the morning of this Friday (27), in Santarém, at the event that guarantees the resumption of the construction of the Materno Infantil Hospital, reaffirming the commitment of the Government of Pará to expand health service coverage in the Baixo Amazonas Region.

"We are in the week of Santarém's anniversary and, of course, the State Government could not miss participating, along with the city hall, bringing another important piece of news. I learned that Government does not create crises. Government solves crises. It has been more than 12 years since the beginning of this construction, but the fact is that the companies that came here did not deliver. And we will finish the work and end the bureaucracy that is preventing the Materno Infantil Hospital from happening. Because in the meantime, it is mothers who cannot have their children in a dignified place, it is babies who are losing their lives because there is no room with quality equipment for the population of Santarém and Baixo Amazonas. From now on, it is with the team of the Government of Pará and we will inaugurate the work on the 365th anniversary of Santarém, next year, taking care of the mothers and babies of the city and the entire region," emphasized the head of the state Executive.

The governor of Pará highlighted the work of vice-governor Hana Ghassan in leading other projects that will also improve the public health system in other municipalities and regions of the State.

"When this work is delivered, in June next year, the governor of the State will be Hana. It will be a woman who will inaugurate this hospital, symbolizing respect for mothers. And it doesn't stop there. We are also building the Materno Infantil Hospital in Marabá, Breves, and Altamira. We will decentralize care, so that a mother does not need to travel to other regions to have her baby, which can be close to her home," added Helder Barbalho.

The vice-governor Hana Ghassan spoke about the commitment of the Government of Pará to meet the schedules of the works being carried out in all municipalities of Pará.

"I am very happy to be in Santarém. It is the week of the city's anniversary and we could not be here without giving this news of the resumption of this important work. And this time, definitively. Now this work will not stop until it is delivered. I want to say to you that, as a mother, as a woman, I am very happy to be here participating in this moment. Thank you for all the trust you have in the State. We are a Government of delivery, of results, that closely monitors the progress of the works," emphasized vice-governor Hana Ghassan.

The first phase of the completion of the Materno Infantil Hospital, carried out in partnership with the City Hall of Santarém, reached 64.63% of executed services. Now, the work enters a new phase under the coordination of the State Department of Public Works (Seop), which will also ensure the expansion of the public facility, with an estimated delivery in 12 months.

"I want to thank Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice-Governor Hana Ghassan, on behalf of the people of Santarém, for the resumption of this work. It will be a facility to serve, above all, the women of our region. Santarém could not receive a better gift. And with this resource, we will buy everything possible to continue the services here in Santarém, boosting our economy," said the mayor of Santarém, Zé Maria Tapajós.

The Materno Infantil Hospital in Santarém has a built area of 8,046.96 m², distributed over five floors - four stories and the ground floor. In the first phase, the main concrete structure services, electrical and plumbing installations, cooling system, painting, urbanization, and other structural components were executed.

With the resumption of the work, new environments have also been included, such as the Central of Medicinal Fluids, general changing rooms, and the morgue (necrotorium).

Structure - The unit will have about 120 beds, distributed in hospitalization, Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Intermediate Care Unit (ICU) neonatal, Kangaroo ICU (a model of humanized care for low birth weight newborns) and PPP (Pre-delivery, Delivery, and Post-delivery).

In addition, the hospital will have four operating rooms, which are not included in the bed count. The complex will also include technical-logistical support areas, waste central, and electrical substation. On the ground floor, the Pediatric and Obstetric Specialized Units, offices, outpatient clinic, X-ray sector, ultrasound, echocardiogram, utility room, restrooms, nutrition sector, laundry, Central Material and Sterilization (CME), and the Solid Waste Central are located.

On the first floor, there is the Human Milk Bank, the Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Kangaroo Mother Ward, the Adult Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and the laboratory.

The second floor houses the Normal Delivery Center, the Surgical Center, and the Obstetric Center. The third and fourth floors are designated for pediatric clinical hospitalization.

The resumption of the completion and expansion of the Materno Infantil Hospital in Santarém aims to ensure the complete operationalization of the unit, meeting the technical parameters required for hospital infrastructure and aiming to qualify health services in the region, contributing to the reduction of maternal and infant mortality rates in western Pará.

"This is not just about the construction of the Materno Infantil Hospital in Santarém, which is very important for public health, but also about generating jobs and income, providing work opportunities for about 300 people. We have made progress towards the delivery of the Polyclinic, Natea, the Expansion of the Regional Hospital, and various works that provide more quality of life for the people living in Santarém," stated the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.
