Patient safety goals with a June theme were the topic of a conversation circle at the Women's Hospital of Pará
The action took place this Friday, 27, at the reference hospital for comprehensive women's care, and provided targeted knowledge to patients

Taking advantage of the festive period of the June festivities, the Permanent Education Center (NEP) and the Quality Center of HMPA prepared a conversation circle with patients from the outpatient clinics and the examination sector to reinforce patient safety goals. The action took place this Friday, 27, at the reference hospital for comprehensive women's care in Belém.
“The initiative aimed to bring users closer to the safety protocols adopted by the institution in a light and relaxed moment. At the end of the action, participants were gifted with porridge, because no one is made of iron,” joked the hospital's general director, intensivist physician Nelma Machado.
For patient Adaíses Paiva, 55, actions like this make all the difference in care within the health area. “Sometimes, when receiving an exam, a person does not see the name, which can be mistaken or very similar to another patient's. Hand hygiene is also very important. She talked about checking the patient's first name, last name, and mother's name, and only then confirming. This is essential,” she emphasized. She also approved of the June touch of the activity. “I thought the June theme was great. The porridge was very tasty, the kitchen did a great job, it’s really delicious,” she praised.
“Arlindo Alves, a companion of a patient undergoing an exam, also evaluated that the information provided is fundamental. “It is very important to always check the identification to avoid errors in the exam or diagnosis. It has happened to me in another health unit: another patient's full name was the same as mine, only the age was different. This can cause confusion,” he reported. He also approved of the light moment. “It was very good to have this moment of relaxation, and the porridge was excellent,” he commented.
The activity is part of a set of actions promoted by HMPA to strengthen the culture of patient safety and ensure increasingly qualified and humanized care.
