HRPL reinforces commitment to the elderly and joins the "June Violet" movement

The Public Regional Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, promoted activities this week in support of the "June Violet" movement, aimed at raising awareness about violence against the elderly. The action was coordinated by the Humanization Commission (CH) of the unit, with activities held in waiting rooms for users and companions.

The initiative was led by nurse Rafaela Cecília and administrative assistant Gustavo Silva, both members of the Permanent Education Center (NEP). The campaign addressed various types of violence that affect the elderly population, such as mistreatment, neglect, psychological, physical, and financial abuse.

"Our goal is to alert the population about these forms of violence and encourage respect, protection, and the guarantee of rights for elderly people. For reports, it is possible to contact the National Human Rights Center by calling 100, in addition to seeking specialized police stations and the CRAS or CREAS of the municipality," emphasized Rafaela Cecília.

Gustavo Silva reinforced that violence is not always visible. "It is not limited to physical aggression. It also occurs emotionally, psychologically, and through neglect when there is an omission of basic care. Denying rights is also a form of violence," he stated.

Among the participants in the action was Lucélia Rufino, 34, a community health agent, who was accompanying a consultation with an endocrinologist. "It was a very important action. Many elderly people still suffer from neglect and often do not even know they are victims. Talking about this is essential," she assessed.

Between January and April 2025, HRPL recorded 109,544 attendances and procedures.
