On Monday (30), the Symphony Orchestra of Theatro da Paz will hold the closing of the 52nd edition of the Arts Meeting of Belém, at Theatro da Paz, starting at 8 PM, conducted by guest conductor Adamilson Abreu and assistant conductor Laura Mathias Gentile; featuring soloists Thaina Souza (soprano) and Clara Nascimento (flute); as well as the Madrigal choir from the UFPA School of Music; Coro Carlos Gomes and the University Choir of the Federal University of Pará (CORUNÍ).

The repertoire is divided into four moments: a Mozart concert for orchestra and flute, followed by choral works - a cappella - sung by the Madrigal Choir with songs from the Americas (North American, Latin American music, and Brazilian music) totaling eight songs, the performance continues with the symphonic poem Albeggiando (Dawn), by Pará composer Meneleu Campos. The closing will be with the choral symphonic piece Chichester Psalms, by American composer Leonard Bernstein.

According to conductor Adamilson Abreu, the audience can expect a concert with very lyrical pieces and sounds that gather different feelings. “Albeggiando is a very lyrical piece, rich in colors and sound, very pleasant and enjoyable to perform with the Orchestra. The work of Leonard Bernstein that we will perform consists of selections from some biblical psalms that he set to music for choir and orchestra. There are 3 movements that portray very poetic texts of very striking emotions: peace, security, comfort, and joy, concluding with a prayer for world peace,” details Adamilson.

This is the first time the conductor will lead the Symphony Orchestra of Theatro da Paz and the expectation is high. “I am experiencing a mix of emotions conducting the OSTP for the first time. First, a feeling of immense joy, great satisfaction in being able to conduct the main orchestra of our State. The second is the expectation of being able to communicate well with the orchestra, which is the first time I am conducting,” explains the conductor.

The concert will also feature the conducting of maestro Laura Mathias Gentile. For her, the performance is an opportunity for professional growth. “I feel very privileged to be the assistant conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Theatro da Paz and to conduct this concert. As a young conductor, it is super important to have these opportunities, so it is wonderful for me to develop technically and musically in orchestral conducting.”

She also highlights that the version of the work Albeggiando (Dawn), by Pará composer Meneleu Campos, performed at the concert is part of the process of recovering Pará orchestral works. “An interesting thing about this performance is precisely the composition by Meneleu. The edition we are using in the orchestra was an edition that Miguel Campos Neto, the principal conductor of OSTP; along with Agostinho Fonseca Jr. and Cibele Donza created. It is an important work to recover Pará compositions through the editing of scores,” explains Laura.

Admission is free and tickets can be picked up starting at 9 AM on June 30 at the Ticket Fácil website and at the box office of Theatro da Paz, limited to two tickets per person.
