Sefa seizes over 51,000 cans of energy drink without tax collection at the border with Maranhão
Cargo destined for Belém left Brasília without the required tax collection; the total amount of the fine and tax exceeds R$ 84,000

Inspectors from the State Department of Finance (Sefa) seized 51,840 cans of energy drink, valued at R$ 239,616.06, during an inspection at the Itinga unit in Dom Eliseu, northeastern Pará, on the border with Maranhão. The seizure occurred on Saturday (28) and involved a cargo that left Brasília (DF) destined for the capital of Pará, Belém.
According to Sefa, the goods were being transported without the required tax collection upon entering Pará territory, which constitutes a violation of the tax anticipation rule.

“The recipient does not have a state registration and, according to the CNPJ, operates as a wholesaler of general merchandise. The significant quantity of beverage acquired reinforces the commercial nature of the operation, which should have followed the tax requirements for this type of transaction,” explained Rafael Brasil, coordinator of the Itinga tax unit.
A Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was issued in the amount of R$ 84,871.98, referring to the due tax and the applied fine.
