Patients hospitalized at the Public Regional Hospital of the East (HRPL) in Paragominas had a special moment of welcome and lightness last Friday (27) during the debut of the Self-Care Workshop project. The initiative, conceived by the Humanization Commission (CH) in partnership with the Permanent Education Center and a multidisciplinary team, aims to expand health care beyond the physical aspect, also valuing the mental, social, and spiritual aspects of hospital treatment.

The first edition featured an outdoor June bingo in the hospital's external area. The activity involved prizes, interaction among participants, and the opportunity to break away from the routine of the hospital environment.

“It was a beautiful, light moment full of exchange. We took the patients out to feel the sun, the wind, and experience something new. For many, it was the first time out of bed in weeks. Our goal is to provide comprehensive care and experiences that bring emotional comfort,” explained psychologist Ana Beatriz Barbosa.

Occupational therapist Maria Emília Brasil highlighted the benefits of the action for the well-being of long-term patients. “Activities like this help relieve stress, anxiety, and frustration, promoting health in a more complete way.”

Retiree Manelito Soares, 67, approved of the initiative: “I really liked the bingo. It was lively and fun. Getting out a bit, getting some fresh air, helps a lot,” said the patient, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
