Semas promotes composting workshop for the population of Outeiro
The State and the City Hall of Belém provided residents of the district of the capital with theoretical and practical guidance on the process of decomposing organic waste
The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability of Pará (Semas) brought knowledge and sustainable practices to the population of Outeiro, a district of Belém, last weekend, through a domestic composting workshop. The activity was part of the citizenship action "Viver Outeiro", carried out in partnership with the Belém Pra Todos Project, promoted by the City Hall of the capital in collaboration with the state government.
The workshop provided training to the community in the practice of domestic composting, aiming to encourage sustainable habits and promote environmental education. Participants received theoretical and practical guidance on the process of decomposing organic waste, such as fruit and vegetable scraps and other food, which, in a controlled environment, can be transformed into high-quality natural fertilizer. At the end, participants received completion certificates to encourage the practice of composting in their homes.

Agents of transformation - “Bringing this workshop to the population of Outeiro is a way to bring environmental knowledge and show that sustainable practices can start at home. Composting is a simple practice, but it has a great impact on waste reduction and improving quality of life. Our goal is to raise awareness among people so that they become agents of environmental transformation in their communities, and that they can spread this practice further,” highlighted Andreia Monteiro, Environmental Education Coordinator at Semas.
The event "Viver Outeiro" brought together more than 3,000 people, offering various services to the population, including health care, social assistance, housing, document issuance, legal guidance, training, aesthetics, and environment, as well as cultural and leisure activities.
