Codec presents work plan to boost the economic development of São Domingos do Capim
CODEC and the City Hall of São Domingos do Capim begin the execution of a strategic plan to strengthen the economy and improve the business environment.

The Government of Pará, through the Pará Economic Development Company (Codec), held an online meeting on Wednesday (2) with the City Hall of São Domingos do Capim to present the work plan that will be executed in the municipality. This action is part of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two institutions in May 2025, focusing on the joint execution of actions aimed at promoting local development, generating jobs and income, and attracting investments.
The initiative is aligned with the guidelines of the State Government, which prioritizes the internalization of development and the strengthening of local economies through strategic partnerships with municipalities.
Located in the northeastern region of Pará, São Domingos do Capim stands out for its strong cultural identity and productive potential in the agricultural, extractive, and tourism sectors. The municipality is nationally known for hosting the traditional World Surfing Championship at Pororoca, a natural phenomenon that attracts visitors and highlights the potential for ecological and adventure tourism.
Participation and strategic planning
Participating in the meeting were Mayor Orivaldo das Neves Oliveira, secretaries from the Planning, Infrastructure, Environment, Social Development, and Education departments, as well as the chief of staff and legal team from the City Hall. From Codec, representatives from the Investment Attraction and New Business Directorate (DAIN) and Institutional Relations Directorate (DERI), along with the technical team of the Company, were present.
The presentation of the plan was led by the advisor for Strategy and Institutional Relations, Evandro Diniz, who detailed Codec's areas of action, the State's Industrial Districts, and the planned steps for the work in the municipality. Among the highlights are the gathering of strategic information, the diagnosis of local productive chains, and the development of planning instruments, such as the Investor's Guide.
The municipal management indicated priority chains for the development of the local economy, such as the cultivation of açaí and palm oil, ceramic production, agriculture, tourism, and the flow of grains and fertilizers. The mayor also emphasized the importance of logistical infrastructure and informed that, in 2026, a new bridge connecting two federal highways is expected to be delivered, which will strengthen regional integration and the flow of production.
“The municipality already has the potential. Now, we want to attract industries, generate jobs, and expand opportunities for the population. With the support of the State Government, through Codec, we will prepare São Domingos for a new moment of growth,” said the mayor.

Steps and commitment to development
The director of DAIN, Manoel Ibiapina, congratulated the engagement of the municipal management and emphasized the importance of the plan as a strategic tool to guide public policies aimed at strengthening the local economy. “The active participation of the City Hall demonstrates the commitment to development. Codec is available to technically support the structuring of sustainable actions for São Domingos do Capim,” he highlighted.
Among the next steps of the plan are:
- Gathering macroeconomic and social data;
- Holding the Economic Development Seminar;
- Drafting municipal incentive legislation;
- Technical training for attracting investments.
Codec reinforced the State Government's commitment to building integrated solutions that enhance the competitiveness of municipalities and promote opportunities in all regions of Pará.
