On this Wednesday (2), employees of the Hospital da Mulher do Pará (HMPA) participated in training focused on the protection of patients, companions, visitors, and professionals. Promoted by the maintenance department in partnership with the Permanent Education Center (NEP), the training was conducted by civil firefighter Gabriel Barbosa and had the theme "Handling and Indication of Use of Fire Extinguishers."

Dedicated to safe operation in a high-complexity environment like the hospital, the training aims to disseminate technical and preventive knowledge about combating fire principles, ensuring a quick and efficient response in emergency situations, with a focus on preserving life.

During the training, civil firefighter Gabriel Barbosa addressed fundamental aspects of the correct use of extinguishers, highlighting the importance of recognizing each type of equipment and the information contained on their labels. "The labels provide essential data such as usage instructions, the class of fire that can be fought, manufacturing and maintenance dates, as well as identifying the extinguishing agent, whether it be chemical powder, water, or foam, for example. This information is crucial for a safe and effective choice in critical situations," explained the professional.

For the control and automation engineer and maintenance supervisor of HMPA, Saulo Santos, training in the hospital context is extremely relevant, as agility and technical knowledge can save lives. "The correct use of the extinguisher can contain a fire outbreak right at the beginning, preventing its spread and ensuring the safety of patients, companions, and health teams. Every second counts in a hospital, and the team's preparation is essential to minimize risks and protect lives," added the manager.

In addition to theoretical and practical instructions on extinguishers, the hospital's civil firefighters routinely work on the prevention and safety of the unit, through daily inspections of equipment such as hydrants, sprinklers, alarms, fire doors, and smoke detectors, monitoring potential risks and reinforcing the culture of prevention.
