Activities began at Cetea, promoting leisure, well-being, and socialization for children served by the Rehabilitation Complex

Children participated in the toy workshop, accompanied by the sounds of children's music that made the play even more fun and engaging, under the attentive guidance of the recreation leaders.

Play, affection, and creativity marked the beginning of the Summer Camp at the Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation (CIIR) in Belém this Monday (7). The program started at the Specialized Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Cetea) and continues until this Tuesday (8) at the unit that is part of the Rehabilitation Complex of the Government of Pará.

With storytelling, games, and a toy workshop, the day was filled with therapeutic and recreational experiences for users and their companions. The activities were carried out by the Arts and Culture sector, with support from the multidisciplinary team of the unit. At the CIIR headquarters, the Summer Camp activities will continue from the 9th to the 11th of this month.

According to the pedagogical coordinator of Cetea, Luciana Maués, starting the Summer Camp at the specialized center reinforces the commitment to a lighter and more humanized rehabilitation. “This initiative has a direct impact on the development of children. It is beautiful to see how play can also be therapeutic, and it is gratifying to realize that each laugh, each achievement during these moments strengthens the bond with treatment and contributes to a more welcoming rehabilitation,” highlighted the manager.

Fun with games and activities led by Nanna Chorona, who turned each play into a learning and joyful experience

The morning featured the presentation of the story "Time to Play," led by the character Nanna Chorona, portrayed by CIIR's Theater teacher, Paula Barros. “In addition to the story, we had small games that, within their simplicity, allow for learning, experiencing community, and the time to be together,” explained Paula. “In the afternoon, we had the toy workshop with the recreation team, led by Nathália Nancy and Luã Tavares, recreation leaders at CIIR. They offered, in a sustainable way, a different type of play: creating their own toy,” she added.

According to Paula, the artistic and cultural actions of CIIR are fundamental for the learning and overall development of children. “Play contributes to physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. By playing, the child awakens and learns about the world. Not only the Summer Camp but all activities in the Arts and Culture sector stimulate their languages and expressions. The expectation is that this week will be as beautiful as last year's — or even more surprising for our users,” she concluded.

Approval – The program was also well received by families. Claudiane Marques, 39, a housewife and full-time caregiver for Enzo Costa, 11, emphasized the importance of the initiative in her son's routine. “This camp that started today is very important for my son because he socializes with other children. He plays, interacts, and gains more autonomy. This is essential for his development, especially being autistic. These actions help a lot with socialization. For me, as a mother, it is something very important.”

With creativity and environmental awareness, the children built toy cars using recyclable materials, reinforcing the importance of sustainability in a fun and educational way.

The CIIR Summer Camp has been promoted for four years by the Arts and Culture sector of the institution. The initiative has stood out for the high engagement of users and their families, being recognized as a positive experience of integration and encouragement of autonomy in a safe, playful, and welcoming environment. With this event, CIIR reinforces its commitment to a person-centered therapeutic approach that understands play as an essential tool for health care and social inclusion.
