Women's Hospital of Pará surpasses 100,000 appointments in four months
The unit is also a state reference for welcoming women in situations of sexual and domestic violence
The Women's Hospital of Pará (HMPA), a reference in women's health care in Pará, has reached the milestone of over 100,000 appointments made in just four months of operation. Located in Belém, the unit consolidates itself as a center of excellence by offering specialized care, humanized support, and state-of-the-art facilities tailored to the needs of Pará women.
The institution offers outpatient consultation services, including care with a multidisciplinary team consisting of nutritionists, physiotherapists, and psychologists, as well as medium and high complexity exams and surgeries. The unit is also a state reference for welcoming women in situations of sexual and domestic violence, strengthening its role by expanding emergency services in some gynecological cases, such as post-coital bleeding, heavy vaginal bleeding, and intense pelvic pain.
The Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support Service (SADT) of the hospital recorded the highest number of appointments, with over 85,000 exams performed, including mammograms, electrocardiograms, ultrasounds, and CT scans, highlighting the hospital's resolutive role. Emergency services, consultations, and surgeries total 15,089 appointments.
Among the thousands of appointments made, stories like that of Débora Passinho, 44, a resident of the Mosqueiro district, demonstrate the positive impact of the unit on patients' lives. She was waiting for surgery to remove a hernia that caused intense pain and compromised her mobility.
“In my case, it would lock my legs, it was a burning pain, and when I exerted myself sweeping the house, for example, I felt the pain a lot,” Débora reported. She also praised the care received during her stay at the hospital. “I personally have nothing but gratitude. From the people who work in cleaning to nurses, technicians, physiotherapists, doctors, everyone is wonderful, polite. The structure and privacy in the bed are very good,” evaluated the patient.
According to the general director of HMPA, intensive care physician Nelma Machado, reaching this historic mark is the result of the entire team's commitment to the quality of care and the humanization of treatment.
“Surpassing 100,000 appointments in such a short time demonstrates not only the capacity of this unit but also the trust of the population in our structure and our professionals. We work daily to ensure that every woman who arrives here is welcomed with respect, listening, and dignified treatment,” said the director.
The increase in appointments and the satisfaction of users reinforce the importance of HMPA as a pillar of the public health network aimed at the female population, expanding access to quality services with dignity and respect.
