The Government of Pará formalized, on this Monday (14), a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association – Pará Section (ABIH/PA) to ensure affordable rooms in the hotel network for delegations from 196 countries and other participants of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30), which will take place in Belém in November 2025. The initiative is part of the State's action package to host the largest climate event on the planet, strengthening tourism infrastructure and boosting the service sector.

"This is a moment of building and unity. We are signing this Cooperation Agreement to guarantee rooms for COP negotiators, with affordable prices in hotels," said Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, who led the signing. Under the agreement, part of the rooms reserved for participants will be in the range of $100 to $300 per night, from November 8 to 22. Negotiations are ongoing with the private sector to increase the availability of affordable rooms.

State Effort - Since the choice of Belém to host the conference, the Government of Pará has been structuring a diverse network of accommodation capable of serving the 50,000 expected participants. The plan includes the modernization, expansion, and construction of hotels in Greater Belém, the future COP 30 Village, seasonal rental of properties, and the transformation of schools into hostels, in addition to ships contracted by the Federal Government, which will be docked at the Port of Outeiro. This range of options aims to distribute demand evenly and stimulate the tourism economy.

For the State Secretary of Tourism, Eduardo Costa, the understanding with the hotel sector consolidates another pillar of the reception operation. "We have to celebrate. We have made rooms available at better prices for delegates and negotiators from over 196 countries. This will certainly be the best COP of all time," he emphasized.

The initiative was also celebrated by the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association. "We will continue to expand this offer, confident that COP will be a turning point for Belém and for all of Pará," said the president of ABIH/PA, Antônio Santiago.

Expectation - Among the municipalities that joined the State government's effort, Castanhal — a little over 70 kilometers from the capital — made 40% of its hotel capacity available for the conference. "We are open-armed and eager. The world will get to know our beaches, restaurants, and hospitality," said Renato Roldem, owner of Hotel Ideal.

Closing the ceremony, Hana Ghassan highlighted the confidence in the State's preparation to host the international conference: "Another step completed, among so many that we have already overcome. We are on our way to making the best COP of all time, for sure," emphasized the vice governor and president of the State Committee for the event.
