State Emergency Room Dr. Roberto Macedo achieves over 97% approval among patients
With just over a year of operation, the unit has already performed more than 42,000 attendances in adult emergency care alone in 2025

The commitment to quality care and humanized reception has made a difference in the lives of thousands of residents of Pará who seek the State Emergency Room Dr. Roberto Macedo (PSRM) in Belém. On the morning of this Tuesday (15), professionals from the unit were honored and received expressions of praise, recorded in the Ombudsman by service users, highlighting the dedication and care of the health teams working in the hospital.

The initiative is part of the "Monthly Praise Ranking" project, promoted by the Care Directorate and the User Service (SAU), which seeks to recognize the efforts of professionals and stimulate continuous improvement of services.
“Valuing these praises is recognizing the effort of each professional who works on the front line. It is a gesture that strengthens motivation, reaffirms the purpose of our work, and creates a more humane and welcoming environment,” highlights hospital management technologist Bruna Costa, leader of the SAU/Ombudsman.
Highlights in adult care

Among the best-rated sectors is the Adult Emergency Care (PAA), which, just this year, has already attended to more than 42,000 patients – almost double the number recorded in pediatric care. Satisfaction reports range from humanized reception to the cleanliness of the facilities and the organization of the unit.
“Everyone treated me with great respect and courtesy. I have been hospitalized for 18 days and I only have praise for the nursing team, the kitchen staff, and the food served. I feel cared for,” said patient Guilherme Neves, a resident of Icoaraci.
Another point highlighted by users was the attentive performance of nursing professionals and supervisors, who monitor waiting times and seek to ensure dignity even in critical moments.
“The state management has reinforced among professionals that we care for someone's love. This has been taken seriously by the entire team. This recognition from users is proof that we are on the right track,” says nurse Maycon Paiva, from the most praised sector of the unit.
Approval from the population
With 97.77% approval among users, PSRM consolidates itself as a reference in urgency and emergency for Belém, districts, and municipalities in the Metropolitan Region. Located in the Parque Guajará neighborhood, along Augusto Montenegro Avenue, the hospital treats patients in cases of high complexity, with multidisciplinary teams operating 24 hours a day.
“We are continuously qualifying our processes and listening attentively to the population. The expressions of praise, suggestions, and improvements received by the Ombudsman are fundamental to enhancing care,” explains the care director Aristônico Rodrigues.
Structure and specialties
PSRM has 119 beds, distributed among adult and pediatric emergency care sectors, hospitalization, and Intensive Care Units (ICUs). The unit also has six fully equipped surgical rooms, capable of performing medium and high complexity procedures, including minimally invasive video surgeries, which accelerate patients' recovery time.
Managed by the Acqua Institute, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), the hospital is one of the pillars of the public health restructuring promoted by the Government of Pará.
