New attraction at Parque da Cidade delights kids at the opening this Thursday (17)
Esplanada das Fontes operates free of charge for children up to 12 years old and offers interactive toys with water jets for the joy of families

This Thursday morning (17) marked the beginning of activities at the water park Esplanada das Fontes at Parque da Cidade, in Belém. Aimed at children up to 12 years old, the space is the newest free attraction in the area and offers interactive toys with water jets, water slides, shallow pools, palm tree-shaped buckets, and mushroom-shaped showers.

The first children to enter the area were welcomed by firefighters, lifeguards, and monitors trained to ensure the safety of families. With controlled entry and two operating hours — from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 2 PM to 6 PM — the space aims to provide a fun, safe, and accessible experience for the public. The capacity of the space is 150 people simultaneously.

Right at the opening of the park, at 8 AM, little Sofia, 4 years old, was the first child to run to the toys. Her mother, Jonaíres Vieira, attentively watched her daughter's movements.

'I recommend all parents bring their children,' says mother about the water park
“I had visited the park before, but when I saw the announcement of the water park's inauguration, I didn't miss the opportunity to bring my daughter. I recommend all parents bring their children, as it is a great option for our Pará summer,” Jonaíres stated.

Next, it was Alice's turn, 8 years old, to dive under the water jets. Her mother, Loanny Barbosa, also approved of the new attraction.

“I thought it was a great option for my daughter's fun. We are spending her vacation in the city, so it's great to bring her here to enjoy. I am very happy with this inauguration,” said the mother.

Water jets, water slides, and slides underwent safety testing
The Esplanada das Fontes underwent various safety tests before opening. The space has 10 monitors and lifeguards from the Fire Department.

The State Secretary of Culture, Ursula Vidal, attended the opening of the space to the public. “We are very happy for this new delivery at Parque da Cidade. This is a space specially designed for families, for our Pará people. Plan ahead and bring your children!” said the secretary.

Attention to the rules for using the water park:
- Children must wear appropriate swimwear;
- For younger ones who use diapers, it is recommended to use waterproof diapers;
- Eating and drinking on the premises is prohibited;
- The entry of toys or sharp objects is not allowed;
- Pets are not allowed.

Accessibility
The new space was also designed to ensure accessibility for all visitors. Wheelchairs specially developed for use in water environments are available free of charge for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) during their stay on site.

The goal is to ensure comfort, safety, and inclusion, allowing children with reduced mobility to enjoy the structure with autonomy, always accompanied by their respective guardians.

On the afternoon of Wednesday (16), Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan made a technical visit to the space, which will operate from Tuesday to Sunday.

To organize the flow and ensure everyone's fun, the access dynamics will be organized by groups during peak hours. Each group of children, accompanied by their guardians, will be identified with wristbands.

The new attraction will operate until July 31, during the school vacation period, as part of the Public Vacation Colony promoted by the Government of Pará. Entry is free, and each child must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
