Hemopa and Jungle Supply Battalion hold blood donation campaign
The objectives of the initiative were to maintain the blood stocks of the state blood network during the summer period and attract new donors

The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa) held a blood donation campaign on Thursday (17) in partnership with the 8th Jungle Supply Battalion (BSUP), located in the Pratinha neighborhood of Belém. The initiative aimed to reinforce the blood stocks of the state blood network and raise awareness among new donors
about the importance of this charitable gesture.
According to Hemopa's social worker, Vanessa Pimentel, the campaign is essential to balance the stocks during the school vacation period: “The July campaigns have a priority objective due to this seasonal period. This partnership has lasted many years and, in addition to the collection, helps in the formation of new donors, stimulating the spirit of solidarity,” she emphasized.

For Brigadier General Deocleciano José de Santana Netto, Chief of Staff of the Northern Military Command, the Army's participation goes beyond donation. “It is important that institutions like the Army cooperate with essential structures for society. This work not only reinforces blood banks but also trains future donors,” said the military.

Among the donors, soldier Marco de Souza participated for the first time in the campaign and highlighted his satisfaction in helping. According to him, “it is very good to know that I can help another person with this donation. It is also good for us because we can monitor our health. Many people are afraid, but it doesn't hurt, it doesn't thicken the blood, as they usually say. So, whoever can, donate, because we never know what tomorrow will bring.”
To donate blood, it is necessary:
- To be between 16 and 69 years old (minors under 18 need authorization from guardians);
- Weigh more than 50 kg;
- Be in good health, and
- Present an official photo ID.
Donations can be made at the Hemopa Foundation headquarters, at the blood centers in
Belém, Ananindeua, and municipalities in the interior, from Monday to Saturday.
