The State Secretariat for Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) participated in the panel "The challenges and Technologies to Scale Sustainable Production Systems" on Thursday (17), as part of the programming for the Amazon Climate Week. The event highlighted the growth of regenerative practices, as well as discussing how to unite economic, environmental, and social sectors to promote inclusion, climate justice, and economic viability, presenting innovative technologies that support sustainable businesses.

The panel featured the participation of the Deputy Secretary of Environmental Management and Regularity of Semas, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos; Estevan Sartoreli, co-founder of Dengo Chocolates; Orlando Nastri, ESG manager at Citrosuco, and Thais Kasecker, director of Programs at Instituto Belterra, moderated by Bia Marchiori from Fundo Vale.

Participants discussed the growth of regenerative practices in the Amazon

"The seminar fulfilled its role and added more than expected to the discussions. We brought challenging and complex aspects of the reality of implementing productive systems in the Amazon. We discussed the difficulties, bottlenecks, and the need to integrate different agendas, emphasizing that it is not enough to think only of isolated solutions. It is essential to consider addressing deforestation and how this relates to other climate agendas," explained Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos.

Efficiency - Sustainable production systems are initiatives aimed at integrating practices that minimize environmental, social, and economic impacts, promoting efficiency in resource use and environmental conservation.

"Semas was present during the panel demonstrating success in developing sustainable systems for the State of Pará, such as the Sustainable Territories Program through the State Plan Amazon Now (PEAA); the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), through the Regulariza Pará Program, and the commercial requalification through the Sustainable Livestock Program. These are functional strategies that have shown significant advances in the recovery of deforested areas, aiming to promote economic development by facilitating the transition to a low-carbon economy," emphasized the deputy secretary.

At the same time, the panel presented innovative technologies that support sustainable businesses, including management systems, remote monitoring, and solutions for handling and the contributions of these technologies to increase productive efficiency, enhance socio-environmental impacts, and strengthen sustainable value chains.

The panel was created due to regulatory advances regarding a restructuring of environmental management, which is concerned with the effects of climate change in the Amazon and seeks to develop strategies that can recover altered and degraded areas, with the participation of traditional, indigenous, and quilombola peoples and communities, to promote measures to reduce deforestation.
