Agents from Base Candiru seize over 38kg of drugs during approach on the Amazon River
Inspection in the river network of Óbidos results in the seizure of marijuana hidden in a vehicle

Agents from Base Candiru, coordinated by the Public Security and Social Defense Secretariat of Pará (Segup), seized over 38kg of marijuana on a vessel originating from Manaus heading to Belém on the afternoon of this Friday (18). The drugs were hidden inside a vehicle identified with the help of the Military Police's sniffer dog Izú.
“Inspections at Base Candiru have resulted in significant seizures of narcotics that are illegally transported by vessels crossing the Amazon River. In the Óbidos region, this has enabled us to effectively combat trafficking in our area, considering that our river network is one of the routes used for this type of crime,” emphasized the Secretary of Public Security of Pará, Ualame Machado.

Agents from the River Group, integrated with teams from the Military and Civil Police, Military Fire Brigade, and Federal Revenue, conducted a routine approach on the vessel E/M Jean Filho, which was coming from the city of Manaus heading to Belém. During the approach, the police teams suspected an adapted structure in a Jeep-type vehicle, and with the help of the sniffer dog “Izú” from the Military Police, it was possible to find 46 packages of narcotics inside this structure, containing approximately 38.200kg of marijuana.

The material was seized and presented to the Civil Police team stationed at Base Candiru, where it undergoes the necessary procedures.
