Codec strengthens partnership with company for the implementation of the ZPE of Barcarena
Periodic meeting addressed the progress of the project within the scope of the Federal Government, prioritizing the installation of sustainable industries in the region
The Pará Economic Development Company (Codec) received, on this Monday (21), the representative of Bravo Mining, Otávio Monteiro, for another alignment meeting regarding the project for the implementation of the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) of Barcarena (Metropolitan Region of Belém). The initiative, which has Bravo as the anchor company, is the result of a continuous articulation between the private sector and the state government to promote sustainable industrial development in the region, especially aimed at the verticalization of production chains, with an emphasis on export.
The ZPE of Barcarena represents a strategic vector for strengthening industrialization in Pará, by offering a differentiated regulatory environment that stimulates production aimed at export with tax, exchange, customs, and administrative benefits. Located in an area with consolidated port infrastructure and proximity to the main extractive centers of the State, the ZPE has the potential to attract new investments, diversify the economic matrix, promote the generation of qualified jobs, and insert Pará in a more competitive way in the international market.
Technical visit - During the meeting, held at Codec's headquarters in Belém, the next steps for the project's processing at the federal level were discussed. One of the defined actions was a technical visit to Brasília (DF), scheduled for August, with representatives from Bravo and Codec. The mission will prioritize institutional dialogue with the National Council of Export Processing Zones (CZPE), aiming to expedite the process and align the necessary adjustments for the implementation of the ZPE.
Another point discussed was the organization of an event, scheduled for September, aimed at presenting the anchor project and the benefits of the ZPE to the Pará society. The proposal is to promote a moment of listening and transparency, detailing the expected benefits with the implementation of the ZPE, such as the generation of qualified jobs, encouragement of local industrialization, enhancement of priority production chains, and attraction of investments.
Clean technology - Bravo Mining's proposal is the verticalization of the iron ore chain extracted in Pará, with the installation of an industrial plant aimed at mineral transformation through clean technologies, renewable energy, and reuse of industrial waste. The initiative is in line with the guidelines of the Government of Pará for strengthening a low-carbon economy, combining innovation, environmental responsibility, and value addition to Pará's production.

Our project is aligned with the guidelines for mineral verticalization, use of clean energy, and reuse of by-products. The ZPE of Barcarena represents a strategic opportunity to export value-added products, generate qualified jobs, and contribute to a greener economy,” said Otávio Monteiro, representative of Bravo Mining.
“Codec, as the entity responsible for the implementation of the ZPE of Barcarena, has been diligent in actions and technical and institutional articulation with the Federal Government. The visit to the CZPE will be fundamental for us to advance with legal security and agility in the instruction of the process. At the same time, we are committed to transparency and dialogue with society, bringing this project closer to the Pará population,” highlighted Pádua Rodrigues, director of Strategy and Institutional Relations of Codec and director of the Implementation of the ZPE of Barcarena.
