Institute of Social Security Management invests in Artificial Intelligence for data protection
Pioneering in digital public management consolidates the Pará Institute of Social Security as a reference in northern Brazil

The Institute of Social Security and Social Protection Management (Igepps) has taken the lead in seeking innovative solutions for data protection. It is the first Own Social Security Regime (RPPS) in the North region to invest in intelligent technologies to optimize and protect the system that receives, stores, and processes the personal information of hundreds of civil servants and over 55 thousand insured individuals.
The mapping of institutional processes using Artificial Intelligence is a strategic step in the project to comply with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). Being in compliance with the principles of this legislation makes the social security system safer and more efficient.
Reliability - Technological innovation has allowed for the automation of the classification and monitoring of thousands of sensitive information, such as names, CPF, addresses, and phone numbers of beneficiaries and civil servants. The initiative ensures that this data remains protected in critical risk situations, such as attempts at fraud and cyberattacks.
“Igepps is taking a step forward in data security, becoming a more capable institution against leaks, fraud attempts, and cyberattacks. This investment aims to provide more reliability in the system and greater protection for confidential information,” emphasizes the president of the Institute, Washington Albuquerque.
Igepps has partnered with a technology solutions integrator that combines legal expertise, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and global partnerships in the development of the project.
“The LGPD is not just a legal obligation, but an opportunity for institutional evolution,” says Nicolas Marcelino, Project Manager at Bravonix. He warns that privacy starts with everyday actions, such as avoiding unnecessary prints, not sharing passwords, and being careful when sending emails containing employee data.
The Data Protection Officer, also known as DPO (in English), is the point of contact between the social security agency, the insured individuals, and the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), a federal agency linked to the Ministry of Justice, responsible for overseeing compliance with the LGPD.
Efficiency - César Valente, coordinator of the Information Technology Sector of Igepps and DPO of the agency, emphasizes that the use of intelligent technologies is bringing real improvements. “We are able to protect information more efficiently, provide faster service, and reinforce trust with our civil servants and beneficiaries,” he informs.
The Igepps Call Center (Caten) in Belém is an essential sector in the mobilization for compliance with the LGPD. Daily, it receives a large volume of sensitive data. In the first half of 2025 alone, more than 24 thousand people were served at the unit. Therefore, all those involved in public contact are undergoing training to meet the requirements of data protection legislation.
“I feel much more at ease knowing that Igepps is concerned about safeguarding our personal data. We, the elderly, are always victims of crimes on the internet. It is very good to have my data protected,” says retired teacher Lucília Vinente, 85 years old.
The engagement of civil servants has been essential for a safer, more ethical, and responsible environment in handling sensitive information, aligned with the best data protection practices in the public sector.
“We work to avoid risks of undue data exposure and maintain control of access, confidentiality, and ethics in internal communication,” highlights Luciano Campos, manager of Caten and data protection specialist.
