Forensic Police accounts for over 2500 vehicle inspections in the first half of the year
Forensic service in the Metropolitan Region of Belém and the interior is important for the conclusion of police investigations, focusing on vehicle theft and robbery

The Forensic Police of Pará emphasizes that vehicle identification inspections are crucial for cases of motor vehicle theft and verification of traffic accident damages throughout the state of Pará. Since January of this year, 2,537 procedures have been carried out solely by the criminal experts of the Vehicle Inspection Management (GPV), at the headquarters of PCEPA in Belém.
In the first half of the year, 1,306 reports were issued at the headquarters of the agency in Belém, 408 inspections in the interior, and the remainder were reports issued through agreements with the Department of Transit of Pará (Detran) and the Agency for Regulation and Control of Public Transport Services (Artran).

The Vehicle Inspection Management operates in the provision of criminal vehicle inspections in the metropolitan region of Belém and in the interior. The work supports the coordination of the regional offices, which manage the forensic services in the units of the Forensic Police in the interior.
Inspection provides vehicle data
“Vehicles that are recovered from theft and robbery must undergo a criminal vehicle inspection to identify the vehicle through technical and forensic analysis regarding the originality of the elements that make up the vehicle's identification system, such as: chassis, plates, and aggregated components,” stated the criminal expert and manager of GPV, Herculano Marçal.
Marçal explains that those who can request the inspection are the requesting authorities, such as the Civil Police, Public Ministry, Court of Justice, among other agencies. "If the vehicle needs to be inspected, the requesting authority will issue a request for inspection, informing the type of examination requested and the description of the vehicle to be inspected, as well as other particulars related to the occurrence,” he informed.
The vehicle inspections, the Forensic Police notes, are important as they contribute, through reports, to the conclusion of police investigations, especially those involving vehicle theft or robbery.

“After the forensic examination, the expert prepares the report that is crucial in the police investigation, as it provides a technical and scientific analysis aimed at identifying the vehicle so that the Civil Police can remove the restrictions (theft or robbery) from the vehicle registration database and also legally return the vehicle to the owner,” the expert concluded.
