Creativity, attention to aesthetics, and the strengthening of female entrepreneurship were the focus of the workshop "Self-Makeup, Sewing and Fashion," held on Monday (22) by the Sewing and Fashion course of the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet) at Usina da Paz do Guamá in Belém.

The program integrated the activities of the summer workshops of the sewing and fashion course. The students created pieces of beachwear, handmade bags, and hats, with highlights on bikinis, swimsuits, kimonos, bucket hats, beach visors, and even jute bags.

"The month of July was productive here at Usina da Paz do Guamá. Just in the three summer workshops of the Sewing and Fashion course, we certified about 60 students. Ending this stage with a workshop like this, bringing together entrepreneurial women, makeup workshops, and fashion productions, strengthens not only technical learning but also support networks, creativity, and financial autonomy among the participants," highlighted Julie de Lima, coordinator of the Sewing and Fashion course at Sectet.

In addition to the students, the event featured the participation of entrepreneurs from the initiative "FeirArte Popular Rio Guamá," which operates in the territory promoting protagonism, visibility, and income generation for women.

"Today we brought 16 entrepreneurs with products focused on the event. We presented pieces such as earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, accompanying the self-makeup and fashion demonstrations. It is a way to show that it is possible to undertake collectively, sustainably, and in fashion," stated Daiane Gomes, coordinator of FeirArte.

Student of the course and also an entrepreneur, Rosa Wanghon shared her experience in the sewing field. "I decided to enroll to take the beachwear course, the kimono course, and I also took the hat course. It was a wonderful experience," she said.

"I make cloth dolls and now I can make clothes for them, in addition to sewing for myself and my family. Before, I made many mistakes in modeling, now I know how to take measurements, I learned new techniques, and I want to take other courses," said Rosa Wanghon.

The self-makeup workshop attracted more than 50 participants. Among them was 19-year-old student Giovana Vidal, who participated in the workshop and emphasized how much she learned. "I already knew some things about makeup, but I took the course on a friend's recommendation and it was great. What I wanted most was to learn about skin care, and I learned a lot. Besides that, knowing how to combine makeup with clothing makes all the difference," she comments.

"The workshop demonstrated how access to professional training combined with creativity and encouragement for entrepreneurship can transform lives, open paths, and generate opportunities for many women in the metropolitan region of Belém," reported Julie.
