Children in Renal Therapy at Santa Casa Participate in Summer Photo Shoot

The proposal from the Occupational Therapy team entertained boys and girls in a playful setting that relaxed the hospital environment

"I was conducting a dynamic activity with the children and, as part of it, a survey was conducted about where they would like to go if they were free to go out during the holidays, and the winning option was 'to the beach'," says Clévia Dantas, occupational therapist at the Santa Casa Foundation.

Due to the treatment that requires regular dialysis sessions during the week, children undergoing renal treatment do not have a free holiday period, which is why occupational therapy, along with other professional areas of the service, set up a summer scene so that boys and girls could take photos with a beach outing theme.

"With this proposal, we can enhance the ambiance, which is one of the guidelines of the national humanization policy, as it allows us to transform the children's context into a more welcoming and transformative setting. The ambiance is not limited to infrastructure but considers the physical space as a place for meeting, interaction, and the production of subjectivities, influencing the experience of everyone involved," emphasizes therapist Clévia Dantas.

The initiative was a success, with the participation of the children, mothers, and the entire team. "Setting up the beach scene was important not only for the dialysis children but even for those who come for consultations; I see their excitement, they find it different," said Sabrina Lima, mother of Álvaro, 3 years old, a patient undergoing hemodialysis at Santa Casa.

"I myself woke up that day, working with my son’s mind about what we were going to do, that he would wear different clothes, that we would wear sandals, that I would wear a hat. It was interesting and he loved it. It was great," added Sabrina Lima.
