Civil Police arrest two suspects for kidnapping and extortion in Belém
Agents from the Department for the Suppression of Criminal Factions executed warrants issued by the Organized Crime Combat Court
The Civil Police of Pará, through the Department for the Suppression of Criminal Factions (DRFC), a unit linked to the Organized Crime Suppression Division (DRCO), executed on the 23rd and 24th (Wednesday and Thursday), in Belém, two preventive arrest warrants against individuals investigated for the crime of kidnapping and aggravated extortion, as well as two search and seizure warrants to investigate and clarify the case.
The warrants were issued by the Organized Crime Combat Court and executed with the support of the Coordination of Operations and Special Resources (Core) and the Police Intelligence Center (NIP). The duo of suspects is being investigated for being part of a criminal faction and for committing crimes in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.
"The first is involved in a kidnapping of a woman who worked in the health sector in Belém. The second is being investigated for holding the position of 'tower' in the criminal organization and coordinating extortions against merchants and businessmen in the Cremação neighborhood," reported delegate Juliano Côrrea, head of the DRCO.
The two individuals were indicted for aggravated extortion and participation in a criminal organization. They were taken to the police unit for the necessary procedures.
The case is ongoing under investigation to clarify all information related to the case and to identify and arrest other possible individuals involved in the criminal practices.
