The fourth and final weekend of July is expected to see a large movement of vehicles leaving Belém towards the interior of the State. The forecast from the State Traffic Department (Detran) is about 68 thousand vehicles leaving the Metropolitan Region starting Friday (25).

The preliminary assessment from the agency is that the flow will be equal to or less than that recorded in previous weekends. "Despite the tradition of people from Pará traveling on the weekends in July, we are in a period of the month when people no longer have as many resources to spend. In addition, most have already traveled, and we no longer have the shows in Salinópolis to attract so many vacationers," evaluates the Technical-Operational Director of Detran, Bento Gouveia.

According to him, the best times for land travel continue to be from 6 AM and after 10 PM.

Agents attentive on the roads to curb infractions

Although a slightly lighter movement is expected on BR-316, Detran remains vigilant on state highways throughout Operation Summer 2025. In addition to the presence of education agents on the busiest highways, enforcement agents act to curb infractions and behaviors that may cause accidents.

The work is supported by a video monitoring system that captures infractions such as overdue licensing, not wearing a helmet, and vehicles with excess passengers or reported stolen.

Positive data - The partial balance shows that the rate of compliance with the guidance not to drive under the influence of alcohol remains positive this month. Of the 12,160 breathalyzer tests conducted since the beginning of Operation Summer, only 98 tested positive for alcohol - less than 1% of the drivers subjected to the test had consumed alcohol. "The data is encouraging and shows that, like the last major operations of the agency, driver awareness is increasing, and our work in education and enforcement is having the desired effect of reducing, or even eliminating, accidents with victims caused by drunkenness on the road," explains Bento Gouveia.

According to him, the agents are reinforcing the Dry Law Operation and are also attentive to the vehicle and driver documentation, compliance with speed limits, helmet use, and seatbelt use by all vehicle occupants.
