In partnership with the Military Police of Pará (PMPA), the Graduate Program in Public Safety at the Federal University of Pará (PPGSP-UFPA) conducted a technical training on the handling of the DOI – Digital Object Identifier on Tuesday (5). The main objective of the course was to prepare the staff to autonomously apply the tool in institutional materials produced by the Military Police.

The initiative represents an advancement in the technical qualification of the corporation, as well as providing greater visibility to the scientific productions of PMPA in the national and international academic scenario.

“The university provided us with knowledge about an essential tool in scientific research. With it, we can generate a permanent link for each article, manual, or scientific production. This facilitates access for researchers from anywhere in the world to our content, without needing to navigate through various internal protocols,” explained 3rd Sergeant Wanderson Pantoja.

Tatiane Tolosa, also a 3rd sergeant, highlighted the impact of this innovation on the dissemination of knowledge generated by PMPA: “By registering our works with the digital identifier, we start to have our productions recognized in a much broader scope. This strengthens the work we do and ensures greater reach and credibility for the scientific journal and manuals of the Military Police.”

The DOI technology ensures that articles, reports, manuals, and other scientific productions have a unique and traceable “digital identity,” even if the content is moved or restructured in other digital environments. With this initiative, PMPA takes another step to integrate its productions into international databases and facilitate access for researchers and institutions to its contributions in the field of public safety.

The head of the PMPA General Staff, Colonel Ariel Souza, emphasized the importance of the partnership with the university and the impact of adopting the DOI for the corporation:
*“This is yet another partnership with the Federal University of Pará that opens great possibilities and advancements for the Military Police of Pará. The digital identifier, traceable and unique, values the professionals who produce scientific articles and facilitates the search, access, and traceability of these productions.”

“It is a fundamental process for the dissemination of knowledge generated within our institution, expanding its reach to the whole world. This initiative reinforces the seriousness and commitment to the science produced in the corporation, which has the full support of our commander-in-chief, Colonel Dilson Júnior, Governor Helder Barbalho, Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, and Secretary of Public Security, Ualame Machado. The closeness between academia and the Military Police generates relevant fruits for the development of new concepts applicable to our constitutional mission of protecting society.”

The training was conducted by Professor Dr. Gracildo Júnior from UFPA and brought together seven military personnel from the PM General Staff, including 3rd Sergeants Aline de Cáritas, Wanderson Pantoja, and Tatiane Tolosa from the 3rd section of the EMG, Corporals Alison Felipe and Henrique Cabral from the 8th section, and Corporal Ramon Costa from the 7th section.
