Families in Santa Luzia do Pará receive housing assistance for building their own homes
The Sua Casa benefit was delivered to 180 families who will build, renovate, expand, or complete works on their residences

The Government of Pará delivered on this Friday (8), housing benefits to 180 families in Santa Luzia do Pará, a municipality in northeastern Pará. The delivery was part of the work agenda of Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan in the region.
“Today we are delivering checks from the housing program Sua Casa, through Cohab, to families who need to improve their homes, just as we delivered a beautiful square along the highway, and we also signed a service order to start the construction of a complete leisure complex in the municipality,” detailed Governor Helder Barbalho.
69 families benefited from the first installment of the benefit, and another 77 people received the second installment, which allows for the completion of work on their own homes.

For the president of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro, the delivery is another expansion of the benefit for families in the region, ensuring dignified housing for those who need it most.
“We are here with Governor Helder and our vice Hana to deliver benefits that ensure that more families can access construction materials and resources for paying the mason's labor, and thus build their homes, providing better quality of life for their families,” highlighted Pioneiro.
The "Sua Casa" consists of two benefits: assistance for the acquisition of materials used in construction, renovation, expansion, improvement, or adaptation of the housing unit, and assistance for labor payment. The housing assistance, which is free, can reach R$ 21,000.
Eloana Soares dos Santos, a farmworker, shares that she has always lived in rental housing and managed to buy a wooden house, and now that she has received the benefit, she will build her own brick house. “I was so happy because I really need it, I am grateful for the opportunity to build a new house not only for myself but for my whole family, my husband was so happy that he went to celebrate, and especially my children who will now have a room for themselves,” she detailed.
João Victor Reis, a machine operator, explained that building the house through Sua Casa will bring more security. “Now I will build my house in brick, because the one we have is very precarious, which even makes it easier for people who might want to take our things. I already have it designed in my head and it will be very good to have a new house,” he pointed out.

Among the criteria for families to qualify for the Sua Casa housing benefit are: having a family income of up to three minimum wages; not owning another property; being over eighteen years old or emancipated; having a family with at least two members; not having been benefited by another housing program at the Municipal, State, and Federal levels; and proving that they have owned or peacefully possessed the property for more than five years.
