State University (Uepa) opens applications for Master's in Music in the Amazon
The course guarantees opportunities for graduates in any field of knowledge, and applications will remain open until August 21.

The State University of Pará (Uepa) is accepting applications until August 21 for the selection of the Academic Master's course of the Graduate Program in Music in the Amazon (PPGMUSA), with enrollment expected for the first semester of 2026. Graduates holding a degree in any field of knowledge — not just in Music — interested in developing research that articulates teaching, research, and extension in the musical area, with an emphasis on Amazonian realities and other regions that require social responsibility, can apply. Applications are free and must be made exclusively through the website https://sistemas.uepa.br/sgps/selecao/.
PPGMUSA offers 22 spots, distributed among general competition, institutional spots (teachers and technicians from Uepa), affirmative actions for black, indigenous, quilombola, and transgender individuals, as well as reserved spots for people with disabilities. At the time of application, the candidate must indicate their research line of interest: Music and Culture or Music and Education.
The Music and Culture line encompasses studies on musical knowledge and practices in various contexts of creation and expression, considering historical, anthropological, aesthetic, and sociocultural aspects, especially related to the Amazon. The Music and Education line focuses on research about music in education and through education, covering everything from basic education to community and ethnic contexts, with an interdisciplinary and decolonial approach.
The selection process will be in-person and divided into four phases: written exam, analysis of research proposal, interview, and evaluation of the Lattes curriculum. The first stage, the written exam, will take place on September 1, 2025, at Campus I of Uepa in Belém.
To complete the application, the candidate must fill out the online form and attach the required documentation according to the type of spot sought. The complete announcement, with the areas of interest of the faculty, bibliography for the exam, evaluation criteria, and detailed schedule, is available on the website www.uepa.br/editais.
The Master's in Music in the Amazon aims to train professionals capable of producing scientific knowledge, valuing regional musical practices, and expanding dialogue with other cultures. The announcement reiterates that the course prepares professionals to contribute to the development of science, education, and the job market, especially in the Northern Region.
