In a meeting held in the auditorium of the Supply Centers of Pará (Ceasa), a team from the Pact Against Hunger Institute, from São Paulo (SP), presented results from the diagnosis made on the Food Bank of Pará, according to the methodology created by the Institute, within the "Ceasas Project", which inspects actions and makes specific recommendations for each territory. The Project is supported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and aims to modernize and strengthen food redistribution strategies in Ceasas, through Food Banks, with an emphasis on reducing losses and waste, aiming to promote food security.

Visit of the Pact Against Hunger Institute team to the Ceasa-PA facilities

According to Juliana Arida, Projects Coordinator of the Pact Against Hunger, the evaluation made based on the team's previous visits to Belém was very positive. "I think it is a new, recent Food Bank, where a lot of work has already been developed, and with great growth potential. We believe that, with the specific recommendations we brought, it will be possible to further boost the Food Bank of Pará. We hope that, from this diagnosis, we can strengthen this partnership to develop better strategies and strengthen your equipment, already utilizing the workforce that Ceasa Pará has and understanding how civil society can contribute to this," emphasized the coordinator.

For the Technical Director of Ceasa, Denivaldo Pinheiro, the meeting was very important for the proposals presented on what should be implemented to further improve services. "They are bringing us an outside perspective, a technical and complete diagnosis, within this reality we live in, so that we can improve and strengthen our Food Bank," he evaluated.

Expansion - The president of Ceasa-PA, Raimundo Santos Júnior, highlighted that, in just two and a half years, the project has already benefited more than 40,000 families in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, and Ceasa has been preparing to expand its services to other municipalities. "Compared to other states, our Food Bank is the youngest, but with great results in a very short time, already having won awards. And we have been seeking to advance in this goal of combating hunger. Therefore, we count on support, partnerships, and recommendations that will help optimize this, so that we can help more people. I thank you for coming here, and let's join efforts to increasingly expand actions to mitigate hunger for families in food insecurity," reinforced the manager.

Participants in the meeting included Director Denivaldo Pinheiro; Food Bank Project Coordinator Karyme Marques; Planning and Projects Core Coordinator Rafaela Rios; Market Management Coordinator Kedma Viegas; Planning and Projects Core Advisor Ana Carolina Pena; Projects Coordinator of the Pact Against Hunger Juliana Arida; Project Analyst João Pedote; and local articulator of Pará Letícia Luz.
